With official casting news expected soon, it is learned that James Gunn has cast Nathan Fillion in The Suicide Squad. The role is currently unknown. James Gunn and Nathan Fillion have a long history together as Fillion starred in Super and Slither and voiced the Monstrous Inmate in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Nathan Fillion …

Fans spotted mock movie posters featuring Nathan Fillion who is featured as Simon Williams aka Wonder Man. Fillion also played an alien in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
In the comics, Wonder Man starred in the “Arkon” movies, which saw the character of same name do battle against Wonder Man and tell Simon not to have the studio do any more films with his name.
Regarding the “Haxan” movie poster, it seems it’s a possible reference the 1922 movie of the same name, in which Wiki describes as: “Swedish-Danish silent film written and directed by Benjamin Christensen. Based partly on Christensen’s study of the Malleus Maleficarum, a 15th-century German guide for inquisitors, Häxan is a study of how superstition and the misunderstanding of diseases and mental illness could lead to the hysteria of the witch-hunts. The film was made as a documentary but contains dramatised sequences that are comparable to horror films.”
The third movie poster looks to possibly be a Tony Stark film with Simon Williams playing the lead character, which might be an Iron Man movie based in the MCU from the events that went down in the 2008 movie.
The fourth poster, “Oh, Rebecca,” may be a reference to Fillion’s former role on the soap, One Life To Live. Actress Rebecca Budig from the soap has appeared on Fillion’s Castle.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” has a May 5, 2017 release directed by James Gunn starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Salanda as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, with Kurt Russell playing an unknown role.
Nathan Fillion, a one time fan-favorite choice to play Star-Lord for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, lets it be known he would be interested in playing Booster Gold for DC.
Fillion did cameo in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and is known for voicing Green Lantern in the DC animated universes.
A fan at Wizard World Chicago asked Fillion if he could play any character in either DC or Marvel, who would it be?
“I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold,” Fillion told the crowd, who were in attendance for a Firefly panel. “That’s kind of my niche – show-offy, vain. I think I could handle that – not too bright. I think Ambush Bug; little bit off his rocker. You never see my face. But I think Greatest American Hero is do for a reboot.”
Fillion then questioned Summer Glau about what she knows about super heroes, with Glau responding, “I like She-Ra.”
Fillion replied, “You are totally a princess of power.”
Adam Baldwin chimed in stating maybe he could play Green Lantern, with Fillion shaking his head no.
“I don’t know,” Baldwin smiled, and they all laughed with Fillion stating Green Lantern has already been taken.
Regarding Booster Gold, a while back there was talk about a SyFy series in development, but really nothing has been mentioned in a couple years.

Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudky took to crowd-funding to kickstart the Con Man web series, and now a first trailer has been released.
Check it out above.
Synopsis:
Wray Nerely (Alan Tudyk-Me!) was a co-star on Spectrum, a sci-fi series which was canceled -Too Soon- yet became a cult classic. Wray’s good friend, Jack Moore (Nathan Fillion) starred in the series and has gone on to become a major movie star. While Jack enjoys the life of an A-lister, Wray tours the sci-fi circuit as a guest of conventions, comic book stores, and lots of pop culture events. The show will feature all the weird and crazy things that happen to Wray along the way to these events.
The series is a light-hearted take on the personalities, luminaries, and characters in the sci-fi community we are privileged to call ourselves members. Con Man is a way to share some of the surreal occurrences we have had, while telling the story of a guy learning to love and embrace his fans.
I wanted to make a show that featured all of my favorite convention artists and friends together. Not only that, I wanted to celebrate the world where heroes, villains, zombie hunters, and space pirates all overlap. I especially wanted to work with my friend Nathan Fillion again.
Comic-Con officially kicks off tomorrow, with the hype only beginning.
THR has debuted a preview video featuring Nathan Fillion not only as Captain Kirk from Star Trek, but talking about when Joss Whedon first announced Firefly as well what he loves about conventions.
I love being in front of a big group of people who are already super-excited; their adrenaline’s flowing. There’s a really positive wavelength of energy. And then they laugh at my crappiest jokes. For me, that’s Comic-Con.
Richard Rider was rumored for the post-credit scene, with it then speculated that Nathan Fillion was playing the character.
Then it came out Fillion wasn’t Nova, with further speculation leading to Fillion voicing Cosmo.
Recently, it has also been learned that Cosmo is not true, and now in a recent interview, director James Gunn says no Nova in Guardians of the Galaxy.
“You won’t see the Nova character in the film,” Gunn told the Nerdist. “You’ll see the Nova Corps.”
Regarding Nathan Fillion’s secret role in Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn offered:
“Nathan’s role is a very small cameo that I wanted to give to Nathan because I love working with him and I think it’s lucky for me to have Nathan in all of my movies. At the same time I wanted to give him something where Nathan could have a larger role in the Marvel Universe if either Joss [Whedon] or I or whoever chose to do that in the future. Which I would love to do. I would love to give Nathan something he could really chew on, but it didn’t work out on this movie for two reasons. Number one — because he was shooting Castle. And number two, because it just wasn’t the right exact role for him.”
Nathan Fillion has both been rumored to play Richard Rider Nova as well as Cosmo in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Director James Gunn came out and said no to Richard Rider, and now Fillion says no to Cosmo.
Previously, Nathan Fillion said to check the credits of the movie, which may mean he is voice-acting, playing an alien or his character is seen only briefly.
Gunn also stated it’s a small fun cameo.
Any ideas?
With Nova and Cosmo out of the picture, fans are speculating Nathan Fillion might play Adam Warlock, cameo as original Guardians of the Galaxy member Vance Astro or reprise as Captain Mal from Firefly.
With so much inaccurate “news” about my involvement in GOTG, I’m actually losing faith in the internet. I’m not Cosmo.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” has an August 1, 2014 release starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana As Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rock et Raccoon, Vin Disel as Groot, Lee Pace as Ronan, Karen Gillan as Nebula, DjimonHoundsou as Korath, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Ben icio del Toro as The Collector, John C. Reilly as RhomannDey and Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael.
From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt afte r stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits-Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand-with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
However, we get some bad news from director James Gunn.
He says Nathan Fillion is not playing Nova.
The good news?
Gunn didn’t come out and specifically state there is no Richard Rider Nova in the movie; so we can at least hope Richard Rider is still set to appear (even though we’ve been told no Nova).
So it’s possible Nathan Fillion could be featured in the post-credit scene as Nova.
Nathan Fillion already has been a fan-favorite choice to play the role of Star-Lord and even voiced Green Lantern for various animated Warner Bros. movies.
