Melissa McCarthy Tells Ghostbusters Reboot Haters To Get A Friend

Not only is the first Ghostbusters trailer the least liked in YouTube history, but instead of releasing the second trailer again through YouTube, Sony decided to post the second Ghostbusters trailer on their official Facebook page so as to avoid the dislikes.

Now Melissa McCarthy has added more of her two cents in a new interview by telling the Ghostbusters haters to find a friend.

“All those comments – ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really,” she said to the Guardian (via EW) “Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood? I have a visual of those people not having a [husband], not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the Internet. I just hope they find a friend.”

McCarthy did previously come out and reveal she wasn’t in favor of the first Ghostbusters trailer. She brought up the point it has nothing to do with the original movie (which the trailer mentioned), but Sony told her they didn’t care what she thought.

Maybe they should have.

Director Paul Feige has also cursed out the Ghostbusters haters on more than one occassion.

“Ghostbusters” has a July 15 2016 release directed by Paul Feig also starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Charles Dance and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Synopsis:

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world!

Melissa McCarthy Not A Big Fan Of Ghostbusters Trailer

It turns out not only is practically all the internet not a fan of the Ghostbusters reboot trailer, but Melissa McCarthy had her doubts as well.

Melissa McCarthy, who plays Abby Yates, said she found the Ghostbusters trailer “very confusing.”

“It’s a reboot not a remake,” McCarthy said on The John, Jay & Rich Show. “I know its weird that they say [in the trailer] ‘30 years ago’, but in this movie its like the first one didn’t happen. It’s a great story but it’s told totally differently. It’s four unlikely heroes, it’s in New York City, ghosts are taking over; it’s that same classic story but it’s not 30 years later … it’s not dependent on the first one.”

McCarthy also makes it known she raised the point of the new movie having nothing to do with the original Ghostbusters, but Sony ignored her concerns.

“Believe me the question was asked,” McCarthy said. “I think that it’s very confusing. But then everyone said we don’t care what you think.”

The Ghostbusters trailer is currently the trailer with the most thumbs down on YouTube of all time: currently at 685, 715 dislikes.

Melissa McCarthy Leader Of Female Ghostbusters (Video)

We get an update in the above video from director Paul Feig about the upcoming Ghostbusters female reboot.

Feig says that Melissa McCarthy will be the leader of the team and also offers that the reboot gives them a chance to do things differently and not just follow the originals, especially with the ghosts/monsters and special effects.

Feig also doesn’t seem too thrilled about the recently announced Ghostbusters universe with the franchise expanding into merchandise, television and a male-driven Channing Tatum Ghostbusters film.

Feig actually dismisses the wider Ghostbusters Universe and offers it won’t affect his film and even states he doesn’t know if the Channing Tatum Ghostbusters movie is definitely happening.

He also offers the announcement was a big surprise to him, with apparently Sony not informing him of the new Ghostbusters venture.

Check out more in the video.

Meet Your Ghostbusters 3 All-Female Cast

Behold your new all-female Ghostbusters.

Director Paul Feig tweeted the following image confirming that Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are the new Ghostbusters.

Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy have worked with Feig before in Bridesmaids;  McKinnon and Jones are known for Saturday Night Live.

The third Ghostbusters movie will be a reboot; however, Feig hasn’t ruled out using the original cast members in new roles.

Details released as a result of the Sony hack revealed Ryan Gosling is eyed for a role, and that the all-female Ghostbusters form as a result of a villain capable of rising an army of the dead in NYC. Other leaked e-mails revealed a possible spinoff starring Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum.

Feig also previously responded to the “haters” by telling them Ghostbusters 3 won’t ruin their childhoods.

Leaked: Sony Plans To Sue Bill Murray & Potential Ghostbusters 3 Cast

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18312:]]

On top of all the leaked Spider-Man information, now details for Sony’s Ghostbusters 3 reboot have become known.

Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters will feature an all-female cast. Feig previously stated he would make room for the original actors, but in all new roles. Of course, Sony would love to have Bill Murray on board; however, the actor has been reluctant to participate.

Now leaked e-mails reveal Sony plans to sue Bill Murray if Murray declines to be in the third Ghostbusters film, which must mean Bill Murray is contractually obligated to appear.

An e-mail (via The Daily Beast) from David Steinberg, head of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s legal department, to Leah Weil, SPE’s general counsel, mentions Murray’s reluctance and Sony’s subsequent response with potential litigation. It’s noted they didn’t want to publicize the matter as the publicity would be bad for Sony with Murray being such a fan-favorite celebrity.

“In order to more fully evaluate our position if Bill Murray again declines to engage on ‘Ghostbusters’, AG requested that we identify ‘aggressive’ litigation counsel with whom we can consult to evaluate our alternatives and strategize. [Harkening back to his prior employer, of course, raised the name of David Boies.] Personally, while I’m fine with aggressive, I think we are in much worse shape if this goes public so seems to me we should look for someone who isn’t seeking the spotlight.”

A separate e-mail then lists the possible cast for Ghostbusters 3, which includes Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Melissa McCarthy. Lawrence recently stated she took a meeting with Feig as well.

“Agree that everyone is way too nervous about how this issue and how we. present it but it’s isn’t a sequel to the 80s movies and it is gonna be totally original with completely different characters and our job is to find a clever way to connect the movie to the original franchise so that we can use all the assets and everything that is great about the original franchise,” the email read. “Paul’s movie is gonna be the first one and from what I’m hearing jennifer lawrence and Emma stone and Melissa McCarthy and Amy schumer and liszzy [Lizzy] Kaplan just to name a few have already said thy wanted to be in….”
