Amy Adams Talks Man of Steel Lois Lane At Oscars

Amy Adams may have stole the show as she walked on to the Red Carpet at the Oscars revealing her gorgeous Oscar De La Renta dress.

While there, the Best Supporting Actress nominee mentioned her upcoming new movie, Man of Steel, where she plays the iconic character, Lois Lane.

“I think it’s always important to pay attention to the people who went before you to take what works for the film you are doing but to add a modern touch,” Adams told Ryan Seacrest, reports EOnline. “Margot Kidder was my Lois Lane so I’ll always think of her.”

During the pre-show on ABC, Amy Adams was presently one of the top three picks for best-dressed among social networking users.

Man of Steel opens June 14, 2013 in IMAX 3D directed by Zack Snyder and also starring Henry Cavill.

Superman Man of Steel 2013: Amy Adams Talks More On Lois Lane & Something Spoilerish

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2432:]] Coming out of the recent Toronto Film Festival we previously heard from Amy Adams talking Margot Kidder and Lois Lane about the new Superman movie, Man of Steel.

Now with USA Today, Amy Adams talks some more about Lois Lane and Henry Cavill, but also something a bit – shall we say – strange?

Before we get to that though, Amy Adams again mentions the different take on her character, this time mentioning the hair color.

“This was a new idea, down to the hair color. I knew people would want to talk about my hair color. It was going to be a thing,” Adams told USA Today while promoting her upcoming movie, The Master. “[Director] Zack [Snyder] told me he didn’t hire me to play someone else. He hired me to play Lois Lane. It’s a whole reimagining.”

Amy Adams continues, again mentioning Margot Kidder from the Richard Donner classics.

“I grew up really loving [her]. I wasn’t trying to be her, but I hope I do enough of a good job to have the same effect on young girls as Lois Lane had on me. I really loved seeing a woman represented as a modern woman in a superhero movie, and not even glamourized, really — she was kind of a troublemaker. She wasn’t a typical heroine. I identified with her from a very young age,” Adams said.

Now this is where things get interesting. You will note how Amy Adams mentioned her Lois Lane as a “reimagining,” and we’ve also heard her say it will be a different take. Adams mentions she hasn’t seen any Man of Steel footage, but offers she wields – something – in the movie.

“I haven’t seen it. I haven’t seen any footage. It’s intense. Henry worked his tail off as Superman. It’s different for me. A lot of running. I hold a laser taser of some sort,” she said.

Now we don’t half as much expect Lois Lane to use a taser on Clark Kent in the Man of Steel a la Thor, but will Amy Adams be battling Zod and Faora side by side Superman? And we have previously heard about advanced Kryptonian weaponry.

And speaking of her hair, here are some shots of Amy Adams on set.

Superman Man of Steel 2013: Amy Adams Talks Margot Kidder & Lois Lane

While attending the recent Toronto Film Festival promoting her latest movie, The Master, Amy Adams spoke on portraying Lois Lane in the upcoming new Superman movie, Man of Steel.

Similar to her super counterpart in the movie, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams is being compared to Margot Kidder just as Cavill is with Christopher Reeve.

Yahoo Movies questioned Amy Adams on the similarity between her character in The Master and Lois Lane, as they are both strong female characters, with Adams responding with mention of Margot Kidder, Superman The Movie, and Superman II.

“It was intimidating because it was played before by Margot Kidder, whom I love,” Amy Adams said. “One of my favorite movies growing up was ‘Superman’ — and ‘Superman 2.’ I was kind of a nerd; I loved them so much. It was important to create a character that was new because I thought she was perfect. It’s hard to step into a role where you thought someone had already achieved what could be achieved. But coming from theater, you’re always stepping into a role that’s been done before, so you’re always excited about it.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3106:]]Now as director Zack Snyder has stated, his version of Superman is going to be a different take than the Richard Donner classics – which we are already getting a taste of if the rumors are true – and Amy Adams reveals that Snyder gave her the go ahead to go with a different Lois Lane as well.

“It’s a totally different realization of the Superman lore, so I felt free in that way because I wasn’t trying to emulate any sort of banter that had been established by Christopher Reeve and Kidder. I was given a lot of permission to create a new character,” she said.

While we don’t have much in regards to just how different Amy Adams’ Lois Lane will be, Adams previously said her Lois Lane is a “pistol” that gets into “trouble,” but at the same time is not “competitive with Clark.”
