Check out a batch of preview images for the return of The Flash on January 19th with “Potential Energy,” where Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) is featured.
“The Flash” airs on the CW Tuesdays at 8pm ET starring Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin.
Here is the trailer as well:
Wally West is confirmed for The Flash, which will be played by Divergent actor Keiynan Lonsdale.
“Keiynan Lonsdale will be joining The Flash this winter in the role of Wally West, an iconic character from The Flash Universe who became the speedster known as Kid Flash,” the CW said in a statement.
The CW version of Wally West being played by an African-American shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans of the series as both Joe and Iris West are played by African-American actors. In addition, the New 52 version of Wally West is African-American as well.
Both DC and Marvel have been replacing their characters with more “PC-friendly” versions.
The original Wally West was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino and introduced in The Flash #110 (1959).
The Flash Season 2 premieres October 6th on CW.
