Katee Sackhoff Creating & Starring In “Rain” SF Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20055:]]

Katee Sackhoff, known for Battlestar Galactica, is creating and will star in a new science-fiction series titled Rain.

Deadline reports Sackhoff has teamed with Continuum producer Reunion Pictures for the project, which Sackhoff wrote and is executive producing.

The description for Rain reads as: an evolutionary parable that gives us a look into our possible future as a species viewed through the eyes of a soldier named Rain (Sackhoff). It explores how the long-term effects of global warming, the burning of fossil fuels and the scientific manipulation of nature’s balance rot the world and contribute to its decline.

“With RainKatee has created a future world and a story that are compelling as both a sweeping vision and a very personal exploration of a civilization in harrowing decline by its own hand,” Reunion Pictures’ Tom Rowe said in a statement. “She has written a great story and we are excited to be working with her.”

Katee Sackhoff currently stars in Longmire, which will be moving to Netflix, and was a part of the controversial Power Rangers fan-film that amassed over 14 million views on YouTube within days of its debut.

“It’s great to be in business with Reunion and Thunderbird,” Sackhoff said.” Their credentials in the genre are outstanding and they share my vision in telling a story that means a lot to me.”

Sackhoff’s name has also popped up as a fan-favorite choice to play Marvel’s Captain Marvel.

Watch: The Making Of Power Rangers Fan-Film

The controversial Power/Rangers fan-film starring Katee Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek that recently premiered online now has a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Above you can check out the “Making of Power/Rangers,” with the full movie below.

Following complaints by Saban, who owns the rights to the Power Rangers, video sites YouTube and Vimeo removed the movie over copyright claims; however, Power/Rangers director Joseph Khan recently filled out paper work stating his movie is a parody, which exempts it from copyright law. Saban could always choose to fight the claim.

The Power/Rangers fan-film currently has over 12.6 million views on YouTube.

Saban also has plans a for a new live-action Powers Ranger movie with Lionsgate, which has a July 22, 2016 release (which is speculated to be the reason they filed a copyright claim).

Katheryn Winnick Wants To Play Captain Marvel

Marvel is set to launch a Carol Danvers Captain Marvel movie on November 2, 2018 and may actually introduce the character some time earlier.

Fans are also drawing up their list of favorite actresses to play Ms. Marvel, and by “drawing” we mean literally.

A fan created an image of Katheryn Winnick as Ms. Marvel, which went viral.

In the video above, Winnick says she was impressed by the image and also offers she would love to play the character.

“Are you kidding me? I would love to. I would love to do that,” Winnick said. “I’m such a big fan of those movies and comic books. It would be a dream come true. And I love kicking butt. Lagertha, my character [in Vikings], kicks butt in the Dark Ages. It would be interesting to just go in the future and do a fantasy one as well.”

Winnick is also aware another fan-favorite choice to play Ms. Marvel is Katee Sackhoff.

“Hey, we can just fight it out,” Winnick says, who happens to hold black-belts in Tae Kwon Do and Karate. “We can see who the best person with the — [laughs]. I just have a strong side kick.

“All kidding [aside],” Winnick continues, “I haven’t heard much about it, but I know it would be something I would be interested in. For sure. Who wouldn’t be?”

Katee Sackhoff Favorite To Play Captain Marvel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:17726:]]

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:17727:]]

Hey, Kevin Feige, listen up!

Previously, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada stated Marvel Studios likes to please the loyal fans (which means Richard Rider Nova, guys!), and with Captain Marvel officially on the Marvel Studios slate, the fans have let their voices be made known.

In their run-down of possible choices to play Carol Danvers in the Ms. Marvel movie, USA Today included a poll.

On top?

Katee Sackhoff, who has been a long time favorite to play the character.

In second place saw Yvonne Strahovski, who was previously rumored for the role a while ago.

Rounding out the bottom four: Emma Stone, Natalie Dormer, Jessica Chastain and Gemma Arterton.

Other actresses not listed also seemed to be chosen by fans as “Somebody you totally forgot” actually came in fourth place overall.

Captain Marvel is due out July 6, 2018.

Katee Sackhoff Involved In New Stan Lee Project: Annihilator Film?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:16678:]]

Katee Sackhoff has been a fan-favorite choice to play a superhero for some time.

She’s been rumored to be playing Carol Danvers, aka Ms. Marvel, and it’s been said she has been in talks with DC as well.

Now Sackhoff has let it be known she has taken a meeting with Stan Lee, and that it is not for a Marvel character.

While Sackhoff has been teasing her Twitter followers (see below) about the character, it is known that Stan Lee has his own line of superheroes with POW! Entertainment and even a line of movies from Magic Storm Entertainment.

It’s looking likely that Katee Sackhoff is probably involved with the Stan Lee’s Annihilator film, which sees a Chinese expatriate and practicer of martial arts involved in a secret U.S. program that gives him remarkable powers where he is forced to face his own personal demons and a villain bent on destroying everything he knows and loves.

The movie is slated for a 2015 release (assuming our guess is correct).

Ms. Marvel Rumored For The Avengers 2; Again

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13666:]]

Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers seems to be a hot character among fans to appear in a Marvel Studios movie.

First rumored about three or so years ago for The Avengers, Yvonne Strahovski was said to be portraying Ms. Marvel for Joss Whedon.

Obviously that didn’t happen, but now Latino Review is saying that Ms. Marvel is definitely in The Avengers 2.

No names have been mentioned to play Ms. Marvel in The Avengers 2 other than Katee Sackhoff stating she would like to play the character.

Previously when asked about if she would like to play Ms. Marvel, Katee Sackhoff replied with an enthusiastic “Hell, yes!”

It’s unknown how big of a role Ms. Marvel would play in the movie as there are at least five new characters with James Spader as Ultron, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Don Cheadle as Rhodey and Thomas Kretschmann as Baron von Strucker.

That’s in addition to Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Tony Stark, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Tom Hiddleston will show as Loki (maybe as Odin?).

It might also be worth mentioning that Carol Danvers is now known as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Comics, so Marvel Studios could go that route as well.

“The Avengers: Age Of Ultron” hits May 1, 2015 directed by Joss Whedon starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo with James Spader as Ultron.

Katee Sackhoff Mentions Harley Quinn; Passed On Wonder Woman; Wants Star Wars

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:12910:]]

I believe for at least the second time, Katee Sackhoff has mentioned wanting to play Harley Quinn.

In previous interviews while discussing comic book super hero roles, she has made mention of the DC villain.

Now speaking with Total Film, she does once again.

“I would love to play Harley Quinn. I just think it’s amazing. I mean I think I might give away my firstborn to have an opportunity to play Harley Quinn,” she said. “I love trying to understand the villain, and trying to understand the things they do and why they do them, and I’ve always found her and The Joker, you almost can’t understand them. And it makes it so much more interesting because everything’s fair game, and I love that. I loved the usefulness of her, I thought that was interesting, and I just think that it’s a fantastic character.”

Sackhoff also offers she was passed on to play Wonder Woman in a TV series.

“I’d love to play Wonder Woman. I remember auditioning for the Wonder Woman television show and being told that I wasn’t the Wonder Woman type, but if I wanted to play the best friend, I could audition for that,” Sackhoff offered. “And remember thinking to myself, ‘You obviously haven’t seen my work!’ [laughs].”

The actress also mentions she would love to be in Star Wars stating she was more attracted to the bounty hunter role of Han Solo than Princess Leia.

“If J.J. would listen, I would play a rock in the Star Wars movies. I think that they’re fantastic, I think that he’s a great choice, and I’m excited to see what happens in that world,” she said.

Another fan-favorite choice for Katee Sackhoff happens to be Ms. Marvel, and she also recently did a racey calendar shoot for charity with fellow BSG alumnus Tricia Helfer.

Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer have formed a charity together, and to mark the occassion and bring some awareness to the project, they have put out a new sexy calendar.

Below you can check out some images and video of the calendar and shoot.

There isn’t anything really explicit – just tantalizing – and we aren’t complaining one bit.

Sackhoff and Helfer worked together on Ron Moore’s Battlestar Galactica for SyFy.

Natalie Portman Hints At Ms. Marvel & Black Panther Movies?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:11139:]]

Natalie Portman all but confirms Marvel Studios is developing movies for a central female figure as well as one for a non-white role.

Portman, playing Jane Foster in November’s Thor 2, tells SciFiNow that she heard it’s already in the works.

“There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming – and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters.

“But they do definitely have strong female characters in them and I think it’s a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterise them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a ‘woman’”

There has been recent speculation and talks that the female character could be Ms. Marvel, of which Katee Sackhoff has been rumored to be attached to; however, it did just become known that Marvel Studios is in early stages of developing an Agent Carter TV series.

Regarding the non-white character, it’s speculated that could be the Black Panther, as Stan Lee recently stated Marvel Studios will be doing a film based on the superhero from Wakanda. Another possibility is for Luke Cage, an Avenger in the comic books and member of Heroes For Hire. Back in January, Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb mentioned, “Just like they announced Guardians of the Galaxy, we are certainly looking at Heroes For Hire, which is Luke Cage and Iron Fist.”

Is Warner Bros. Knocking On Katee Sackhoff’s Door? Denies Talks With Marvel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:10984:]]Katee Sackhoff clears things up regarding her “talks” with Marvel Studios.

The actress makes it clear that she didn’t talk to Marvel, but that her people (i.e. agent/reps) may or could have.

Sackhoff was on a recent podcast where the hosts were talking about Marvel questioning her about it. She didn’t specifically state any studio, just that there is a lot of stuff going on and there has been a lot of checking on her availability.

Sackhoff does confirm “someone” was checking on her availability, and also says she isn’t doing a Marvel movie in the immediate future.

Interestingly enough, in addition to the Ms. Marvel rumor, Sackhoff has also mentioned she is interested in playing Harley Quinn.

Could that have been Warner Bros. knocking on her door?

Below she even states that she doesn’t think Ms. Marvel is in the next movie: “As far as I know…”

Via CraveOnline:

We hear you have some Marvel negotiations going on?

You know, you say one thing… People love a good story, even if it’s a story that has very little truth to it. If you go back and actually listen to what I said, I said that people have checked my availability. I never said Marvel [or] Disney so it’s interesting how people twist stories to serve an agenda that makes people click on their site, or sell their papers.

So are you saying you have not spoken to Marvel?

I absolutely have not spoken to Marvel. It doesn’t mean that my team hasn’t spoken to Marvel. I personally have not spoken to Marvel and have no plans to do a movie in the immediate future, because number one I’m tied up with Somnia which is a fantastic place to be. It’s exactly where I wanted to be.

It turned out the fans were hoping you’d be Ms. Marvel. Was that flattering at least?

Yeah, I’m sure if we dug deep enough there is a sect of fans that don’t want me for Ms. Marvel so let’s just leave it at they want me for Ms. Marvel and that’d be fantastic. I would love to do the role. Of course I would love to do the role. I think that it’s in my wheelhouse and I would enjoy it. I’d be stupid to turn down a Marvel movie but as far as I know, Ms. Marvel isn’t even in the next movie.
