It’s confirmed that Helix has been cancelled by Syfy.

The series debuted January 2014 with 2.8 million viewers; however, by the end of Season 2, the final episode saw only 440,000 viewers tune in.

The series, which was produced by BSG’s Ron Moore, centered on a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to the high-tech research facility, Arctic Biosystems, to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that may hold the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation. However, the lethal threat is just the tip of the iceberg, and as the virus evolves, the chilling truth begins to unravel.

SyFy will be airing an all-day marathon for 12 Monkeys and Helix on President’s Day, Monday, February 16th running from 9am ET to 7pm ET.

Twenty seven years after a virus wipes out most of humanity, scientists send a man (James Cole) back to 2015 to stop the plague from ever happening.  Cole’s only lead is a virologist (Dr. Cassandra Railly), who knows the dangerous source of the outbreak.

3:00 – 4:00 PM 12 Monkeys — “Mentally Divergent”

The trail of a mysterious organization called the “Army of the 12 Monkeys” leads Cole to a mental institution in 2015, where a patient (Jennifer Goines) holds the key to the plague that destroys the world.

4:00 – 5:00 PM 12 Monkeys – “Cassandra Complex”

A search for the location of the virus leads Cole to 2014, when a dangerous outbreak in Haiti was once a devastating moment in Dr. Railly’s life.

5:00 – 6:00 PM 12 Monkeys – “Atari”

A fight for the future ensues when a dangerous band of marauders hunting for Cole and Ramse threatens the mission. 

6:00 – 7:00 PM 12 Monkeys – “The Night Room”

Cole and Dr. Railly face off with the Army of the 12 Monkeys when both discover the Night Room – an off-site, black ops lab that houses the virus that will one day destroy the world.

SyFy Thanksgiving Marathon Announced With Black Goo Friday

SyFy has announced plans for its upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend, which will feature “Black Goo Friday” by showing all-new episodes of Helix and Z Nation.

A slate of sci-fi movies is also planned with 2001: A Space Odyssey kicking things off on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27th beginning at 9:30AM (ET/PT) followed by Star Trek Nemesis, Space Cowboys, Stargate and Poseidon.

To get fans ready for the return of HelixSyfy will telecast the entire first season of the hit drama on Friday, November 28th from 6AM-6PM. The Black Goo Friday marathon features cast interviews as well as a never-before-seen sneak peek of Season 2, which premieres Friday, January 16 at 10PM.

Haven (7PM), SmackDown (8PM) and Z Nation (10PM) will comprise the Friday primetime schedule.

The Saturday, November 29th movie marathon will begin at 10AM, highlighted by classic science fiction flicks ranging from Fifth Element and Terminator 2 to Blade: Trinity.

The holiday programming extravaganza will conclude on Sunday, November 30th, beginning at 10:30AM, with movies such as 30 Days of Night and The Happening.

NEW YORK– October 8, 2013 – Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager, Body of Proof) is set to join Syfy’s newest original scripted series Helix for a multi-episode arc.  Ryan joins a cast led by Billy Campbell (The Killing, Killing Lincoln) and Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine, 47 Ronin) on the 13-episode drama series, executive produced by Ronald D. Ryan will portray the beautiful and charismatic Constance Sutton, the Chief Operating Officer of Ilaria Corporation, owner of Arctic Biosystems, the research facility where the series takes place.  Charming and savvy, Sutton is used to getting her way at any cost.

Jeri Ryan is best known to science fiction fans for her role as Seven of Nine on the series Star Trek: Voyager. Most recently, Ryan has been a familiar face on primetime network television as Dr. Kate Murphy in ABC’s Body of Proof. She was also a series regular in Boston Public as Ronnie Cooke, the CBS legal drama Shark opposite James Woods, and NBC’s Dark Skies. SyFy & Ron Moore’s Helix Comic-Con Teaser Trailer Now Online; Hiroyuki Sanada Joins Cast

Leading up to Comic-Con, SyFy revealed a series of teasers for the new Ron Moore Helix series.

Now all the clips are put together in the following Helix Comic-Con teaser.

It’s also been recently announced that Lost actor Hiroyuki Sanada (also in The Wolverine) has joined the cast with Kyra Zagorsky and Mark Ghanime as well.

The Killing‘s Billy Campbell  plays the lead.

Helix is a new thriller about a mysterious outbreak at a desolate Arctic outpost from Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore that will premiere on Syfy in January 2014.

NEW YORK – July 15, 2013 – Following last year’s dramatic success in introducing the hit series Defiance at Comic-Con, Syfy will use 2013 Comic-Con International (July 18-21) as the launch pad for its newest scripted series Helix. The new thriller about a mysterious outbreak at a desolate Arctic outpost from Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore will premiere on Syfy in January 2014.

As part of its innovative, multi-media marketing campaign for the series, Syfy will brandish a larger-than-life wrap showcasing Helix around the Marriott Marquis & Marina Hotel, adjacent to Comic-Con headquarters in the San Diego Convention Center.

In addition to introducing the Helix creative team during one of the channel’s four star-studded show panels, Syfy will ask fans to retweet an image of the Helix Marriot Board, Like Facebook.com/Helix, and Follow @HelixSyfy to release clips of the Helix Comic-Con reel prior to the Comic-Con panel. Syfy will also feature panels for retuning original series Defiance, Being Human, Haven and Warehouse 13.

No matter what Comic-Con super fans are doing – dining out, walking around town or attending a panel – Syfy will encourage them to become part of the fun:

For the second year in a row, Syfy will transform MaryJane’s Café into Café Defiance. The immersive experience into the world of Defiance will feature video displays, social/interactive elements and game play. The popular Defiance game will be available for purchase. In between bites at Café Defiance, customers can win a Defianceprize package by tweeting Café photos using #DefianceSDCC. There will also photo opportunities for fans to have their picture taken with “Bioman,” a character from the show.

Two of the Dodge Chargers featured in Defiance will patrol the streets of San Diego, enticing participants to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a Dodge Charger. Attendees can enter the sweepstakes by locating the vehicles and tweeting a picture of either car to #DodgeDefiance.

On-site at the Being Human, DefianceWarehouse 13 and Helix star-studded panels, attendees can tweet photos and quotes using the show-specific hashtags, giving them the opportunity to win signed t-shirts and DVDs from the four series.

All social activity will be aggregated to Syfy.com/ComicCon so that those fans unable to attend in person can experience the excitement. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Lynda Obst (Sleepless in Seattle, Contact), Steven Maeda (Lost, CSI: Miami, The X-Files) and Cameron Porsandeh, who wrote the pilot, will serve as Co-Executive Producer. The series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television.
