SyFy Cancels Haven

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21769:]]

SyFy has confirmed cancellation of Haven, with the 13-episode second half of season five being its last.

Showrunner Gabrielle Stanton noted the creative team was prepared for Season 5 to be the finish to the story, which should provide a satisfying conclusion.

“I’m sure as a fellow TV fan, there’s nothing more annoying than when a show kind of feels like it might be wrapping up, but they just don’t address it, they don’t come to any kind of satisfying conclusion,” Stanton told The Wrap. “I always think that’s cheating the audience a little bit, of a nice satisfying ending. So we really looked at these 13 episodes as if… If we were indeed going to end, what would be the best ending we could possibly do for Haven?”

Stanton does note a TV movie following the finale is always possible if there’s enough demand from the fans.

“I think it will feel satisfying on its own as a finale for a series as a whole,” she said. “But if fans wanted a TV movie after that, I bet you’d find some actors and writers who are very amenable to that.”

It’s also noted Haven could survive at another network or Netflix, with there being interest on the part of the creators and cast.

“I’m sure that [the show’s production companies] eOne and Piller/Segan/Shepard are out there looking at that option, which is out there now. It’s so cool, that that option now exists where it never used to. I can’t speak to it personally because I’m not involved in those discussions.”

“Haven” resumes Oct. 8 at 10/9c.

William Shatner Joins SyFy’s Haven

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:17959:]]

SyFy has announced that William Shatner has joined the cast of Haven as a recurring guest star.

Shatner is set to guest star in a four-episode arc on the Syfy fan-favorite series in 2015. Shatner will play a pivotal character that has the potential to forever impact the fate of the town of Haven and its troubled residents.

This year, Haven (airing Fridays at 7PM ET/PT), barrels towards its game-changing mid-season finale with the last two episodes of 2014.

In “Chemistry” (airing November 28), pided loyalties put Haven’s heroes at odds with one another, while a terrifying revelation changes everything. Jay Reso – also known as WWE Superstar Christian Cage – appears in the episode, reuniting with his real-life, lifelong friend and former tag-team partner, Adam Copeland (WWE Superstar Edge Rated R), who plays Dwight. In a recurring guest role, Reso will play McHugh, one of Dwight’s oldest and closest friends.

Then, in the mid-season finale “Chosen” (December 5), a shocking revelation threatens to upend the fragile stability of Haven. Mara’s endgame is finally revealed, while Audrey (Emily Rose) and Nathan (Lucas Bryant) pursue a plan to stop her once and for all.

There’s more Haven to come as the series returns to Syfy in 2015 with 13 all-new episodes. Shatner, Reso, Laura Mennell (Alphas) and Kris Lemche (Joan of Arcadia) are among the guest stars to be featured when the series returns next year.

Haven, based on the novella, The Colorado Kid, from renowned author Stephen King, follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker, who becomes a cop in the small town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which also hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of her lost past.

SyFy Haven Canceled Episodes Return In January

In the wake of the Sandy Hooks shooting, SyFy went ahead and canceled the two remaining episodes of Haven as they dealt with a subject they felt would have been inappropriate following the tragedy.

Now SyFy has sent out an update through their Facebook that the episodes will be returning in January.

To all Haven fans, the final two episodes have been rescheduled and will air on January 17, 2013 from 8-10 PM.
Last Friday’s 10PM episode of Haven contained scenes of fictitious violence in a high school setting and in light of the recent tragedy, we have decided to reschedule it along with the series’ season three finale, originally slated to air this Friday, December 21st at 10PM. The final two episodes of season three of Haven will now air back-to-back on Thursday, January 17th from 8-10 PM (ET/PT) to maintain the integrity of the series’ serialized nature.

Thanks to all our dear readers for your understanding. Please like and share to spread the news to all.
