According to The Wrap, sources confirm that Paul Rudd is in negotiations for the role; however, reps for Rudd and Marvel haven’t officially commented.

It’s noted that Rudd has appeared slimmer in recent interviews, which is said to be due to his physical training for Ant-Man.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was said to be a contender for Ant-Man, but is no longer with his involvement in Warner Bros. and DC’s Sandman movie.

Ant-Man has a July 31, 2015 release directed by Edgar Wright with a script by Wright and Joe Cornish.

Just now, we were interviewing Edgar Wright about his new film The World’s End, and he told us that we will, indeed, meet Hank Pym in Wright’s Ant-Man movie.

Ant-Man could have very well been played by the comics character Scott Lang, who is a popular choice amongst fans as well, but now we learn the original Giant Man, Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym has the gig.

It was also recently learned that Hank Pym will not be featured in The Avengers 2, “Age of Ultron,” and will not be a part of the origin story for the robotic villain.

An announcement regarding the actor playing Hank Pym in Ant-Man has yet to be announced.

Below you can check out Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man test reel, which we now know features Hank Pym.

No Worries: The Avengers: Age Of Ultron Is Not Following The Bendis Comic Book: No Hank Pym, Either

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:9650:]]

Marvel Comics fans were once again disappointed by another less than stellar comic book event that was put out with the Brian Michael Bendis written Age of Ultron story.

So yesterday at Comic-Con when Joss Whedon announced that the title for The Avengers 2 is The Avengers: Age Of Ultron you could hear comic fans across the globe let out a disappointing sigh.

However, worry no more comic and cosmic fans as Whedon explains the movie is not a take on the comic book.

Well, because there was a book called ‘Age of Ultron‘ quite recently, a lot of people have assumed that is what we’re doing, but that is not the case. We’re doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He’s not. We’re basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside.”

We’re crafting our own version of it where his origin comes more directly from The Avengers we already know about. It’s a little bit darker than the other film because Ultron is in the house. There’s a science fiction theme that wasn’t there in the other one. Ultron is definitely something that evolves, so we’re going to get together a couple of different iterations. Nothing can be translated exactly as it was from the comics; particularly Ultron.

What’s that we hear?

Oh, it’s a sigh of relief.
