You can scratch off J.K. Simmons reprising as J. Jonah Jameson for the Spider-Man reboot as the actor has been cast as Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which starts filming in two days.

Now outgoing Gordon, Gary Oldman, has some advice for Simmons.

“The thing you’ve just got to get used to with Gordon is he’s a really sound detective, first of all,” Oldman told Yahoo. “And he’s really incorruptible, which is a kind of wonderful quality to play and sort of, like, true blue.

“He’s like a Watson, oddly,” Oldman continued. “He’s sort of like Watson to Sherlock, is Gordon to Batman.”

Upon hearing the news that J.K. Simmons landed the role, Oldman offered: “God bless him. That’s what I say, yeah.”

Justice League starts filming April 11th for its November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder also starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

Gary Oldman Has Doubts About Batman Vs. Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:16313:]]

Gary Oldman played James Gordon for Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Trilogy and recently commented on the upcoming Batman Vs Supeman movie while promoting Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

It seems that while Oldman isn’t too worried about Batman, he does sound a little skeptical regarding the Man of Steel.

Via Yahoo:

“They want to keep it going. Of course they do. But, it’s Superman yeah? Batman and Superman together? We shall see.”

“The thing about Nolan, there was some grounding of reality to it. In our trilogy, and as fantastical and as big as the joker was, it was based [on reality]… we could relate to it.”

“But now we’ve got a Batman and we’ve got a guy who can fly who’s an alien?! We’ll have to see…”

“It’s got big shoes to fill”.

It’s currently unknown whether or not Gordon will be featured in Batman Vs. Superman.

Fox is also rebooting James Gordon in the new upcoming Batman-inspired Gotham series.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a newly announced May 6, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

2 More Indiana Jones Movies Rumored; Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch & Ian McDiarmid For Star Wars

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13935:]]

A batch of new rumors has hit the net surrounding the Disney LucasFilm movies as it’s being said two Indiana Jones movies are in development as well as some casting news regarding Star Wars: Episode VII.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary Oldman have previously been mentioned for Star Wars, with Oldman most recently confirming talks. Now Market Saw has released some potential new information in that the role both of the actors were going for was one in the same. It’s noted, however, it’s not known how that will play out, but that both Cumerbatch and Oldman are somehow involved.

It’s also mentioned that Ian McDiarmid looks to be back for Star Wars: Episode VII. Back in August of last year, McDiarmid was rumored to be returning as The Emperor, but no specific details known.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13936:]]

Read the comic books.

“I’m sure he’s going to be fabulous,” Oldman told Access Hollywood.

Gary Oldman played Jim Gordon for Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Trilogy and can be seen in RoboCop, currently in theaters.

Joining Ben McKenzie on Gotham includes Donal Logue cast as Gordon’s partner, Detective Harvey Bullock; Robin Lord Taylor as the Penguin; Sean Pertwee as Alfred; Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen and Erin Richards as Barbara Kean.

Gary Oldman Reveals Dawn of the Planet of The Apes Spoilers

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13684:]]

While promoting RoboCop, Gary Oldman let loose a batch of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes spoilers and details.

Speaking with MTV, Oldman, who plays Drefus in the movie, offered the following:

He is a leader of a community of humans who survived the the flu, the disease and ensuing social uprising.

His character is a former police officer; he is more of the elected leader of the community.

They need power and the humans go investigate a power station where they find an entire community of apes living there.

It was thought all the Apes had been fire-bombed and wiped out.

His character has experienced great loss personally, and there is only one thing to do with the apes: wipe them out.

Oldman sees the character as a hero.

Oldman also mentions they are going to make another (is untitled and has an announced July 29, 2016 release).

“[Director Matt Reeves] wanted to make it more of a human story,” said Oldman. “He wanted to explore what had happened, and keep it more focused on the human side of it, before the story becomes the ‘Planet of the Apes’ as we know it from the original.”

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has a July 11, 2014 release starring Gary Oldman, Kerri Russell, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee, Judu Greer and Andy Serkis.

Sony Leaked The First RoboCop Joel Kinnaman Images Says Gary Oldman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13624:]]

Gary Oldman lets it be known that Sony leaked the first images of Joel Kinnaman in the new RoboCop suit.

He says it was done as part of the film’s PR.

“What we did was we set that up. We leaked those pictures,” Oldman admitted to Yahoo. “That was absolutely a staged photoshoot.”

“Well what happens is you will get these people who are going to leak pictures, so it’s going to happen anyway,” he continued. “So, take a ‘paparazzi shot,’ but at least of the suit at an angle that you like, so you can ‘leak’ your picture first, and have some control over it.”

Joel Kinnaman also commented on the first reactions to the new RoboCop suit, basically telling the fanboys not to get all worked up while in their mother’s basement.

“The suit is digitally enhanced in post-production with CGI and that makes the complete product,” Kinnaman said, “So I didn’t get bothered with what somebody was saying when they’d just seen a fragment of it, and getting angry about seeing 20 percent of what it is. In my mind, I’m like – well, if you’re mad about it, and you want to spend your time being mad, in your mom’s basement, then you go ahead. But wait until you’ve seen the whole thing before you spend all that energy.”

I’m guessing most likely the studios leak the set images all the time to capitalize on the hype. Reportedly the first pics of new Superman Henry Cavill shirtless for Man of Steel were intentionally leaked as well.

This brings up a good question in regards to the validity of studios sending DMCA takedown notices to websites when the images are intentionally leaked, as it could be argued the studios are giving permission to use the images as they are intentionally released online by the studios themselves. The studios even have to send the notices under penalty of perjury.

RoboCop” has a February 12, 2014 release rated PG-13 starring Joel Kinnaman, Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley and Samuel L. Jackson.

WB Green Lights “Gotham” Commissioner Gordon TV Series: No Batman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:11272:]]

If you have been following all the news as of late, the writing for a new Batman-themed TV series has been on the wall for sometime.

As I’ve pointed out many times, Batman is fast becoming the focus of all the WB DC properties, which includes their video games, movies, animated series and TV.

A trusted source close to Warner Bros. even told us “a lot is being built up to Justice League.”

Warner Bros. added Batman to the Man of Steel sequel; the Arkham franchise holds some of the most popular video games; Batman Beyond is featured on Cartoon Network; a Batman Arkham animated movie is in the works; the League Of Assassins plays a major role in this season’s Arrow, and now it’s learned a new Gotham TV series has been green lit focusing on Commissioner Gordon.

As Cosmic Book News reported on a couple of days ago, comic book scribe and writer behind the Gotham Central comic book series, Ed Brubaker, let it be known there has been talk about doing a TV series based on that for quite a while.

Now it becomes known that Warner Bros. is going forward with Gotham at Fox.

Deadline has it Gotham will land on Fox from WB TV and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller in what is described as “one of the biggest drama deals this season.” The new series will follow the origins of Commission Gordon, still a detective at the Gotham City PD, and he has yet to meet Batman (meaning no Batman in the series). The Gotham TV series will also follow the villains who made Gotham City famous.

Gary Oldman last played Commissioner Gordon for Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Trilogy, which will not play a part in the new series as those Batman movies are self-contained stories.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt As Batman In Justice League Movie Is BS

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4307:]]Late last night the news surfaced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be the new Batman in the Justice League movie with it even speculated that he might be appearing in the upcoming Man of Steel trailer.

It wasn’t rumored, but was stated to be true.

Cosmic Book News contacted our DC Entertainment source who said it’s “bullsh-t.”

In addition, the reps of Joseph Gordon-Levitt have come out and “have refuted the rumor entirely,” as reported by Hollywood.com.

The rumor had it that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be the new Batman in the Justice League movie with another Christopher Nolan actor that was featured in The Dark Knight Trilogy, speculated to be Gary Oldman, Commissioner Gordon.

The rumor went on to mention how Warner Bros. was basically telling Christopher Nolan “too bad” (which was most likely the first indication that it was false) in going forth with a Justice League movie related to his Dark Knight Trilogy.

Our own source told us that the studio had Jake Gyllenhaal as their favorite for the new Batman, but the actual choice for the new Batman comes down to the director, and a Batman that will most likely go on to be featured in the Batman 2016 reboot.

The news of JGL not being the new Batman really comes as no surprise as the thought of a Batman in the Justice League movie who is not Bruce Wayne is just too unbelievable. Right?

Gary Oldman Talks Lost The Dark Knight Rises Script; Mark Strong Talks CIA Secrecy

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1067:]]Christopher Nolan is known for the tight ship he runs in regards to the secrecy surrounding his movies, with The Dark Knight Rises being no exception, as it’s been stated that the actors involved have read the ending only under lock and key.

Seems maybe the entire script should be locked up as well, as Gary Oldman, who plays commissioner Gordon, thought he had lost the script to Nolan’s final Batman installment.

Oldman informs the BBC that he was in his hotel when he was getting ready for a dinner date. He went out, and when he came back — he couldn’t find it. However, the script did end up surfacing with no foul play involved.

“I was in a panic for 20 minutes. I thought, ‘where the hell have I put it?’ It had my name on it. They would have killed me,” Oldman told the BBC. “I’d gone out for dinner and I had put it in the room between the mattress and the bed, because I couldn’t scrunch it into the safe. I was half-thinking about something else and shoved it there.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1068:]]Another actor also tells the BBC about strict procedure surrounding a film, with Mark Strong on Zero Dark Thirty.

Zero Dark Thirty, a new film directed by Katherine Bigelow, is about the Navy’s Seals raid on Osama Bin Laden’s home in Pakistan.

Seems the director wanted the script so secret that special computer security measures were implemented that included only reading it on a computer that detects whether you are reading it or not, and if not, causes the screen to go blurry. In addition, if the user hasn’t read the script in a few days — it gets deleted.

But why so secret?

Strong said the script went into “a lot of CIA procedure” that had been provided by “the people who were involved” in the raid.

“Zero Dark Thirty” is due in theaters December 19th, 2012.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra’s al Ghul.
