Garrett Hedlund

Watch: Green Lantern Corps Trailer With Idris Elba & Garrett Hedlund (Fan-Made)

The Alex Luthor YouTube channel is back with another cool video as this time a Green Lanter Corps trailer is presented featuring Idris Elba and Garret Hedlud.

The trailer uses footage from Green Lantern, TRON: Legacy, Pacific Rim, John Carter and more, and looks pretty good.

We still have a while to wait for Green Lantern Corps, as the movie is set to be released in 2020, but perhaps we won’t have to wait that long as it’s possible a Green Lantern may be featured in the Justice League movie, which hits in 2017.

About a year ago saw Idris Elba comment on Green Lantern John Stewart fan art of himself stating he loves the idea.

Idris Elba is currently filming Star Trek Beyond; Garret Hedlund is featured in Pan with Hugh Jackman and was set to reprise for the third Tron movie, but Disney recently abruptly cancelled the project.

WB Reviving Akira With Daredevil Season 2 Co-Showrunner

It’s learned Warner Bros. is reviving the live-action adaptation of Akira.

THR reports Daredevil Season 2 co-showrunner Marco Ramirez will write a new Akira movie.

Ramirez is also known for writing episodes of Sons Of Anarchy, Da Vinci’s Demons and Orange Is the New Black.

The report mentions Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way Productions are on board as producers.

Akira almost made it to the big screen back in 2012 with Garrett HedlundKristen StewartKen Watanabe and Helena Bonham Carter attached at one point.

Interestingly enough, Disney just canceled plans for the third Tron film, which was to star Hedlund. Perhaps with Hedlund not doing any more Tron movies, he could hop on the new Akira?

Akira is a Japanese manga comic from Katsuhiro Otomo described by Amazon as:

Welcome to Neo-Tokyo, built on the ashes of a Tokyo annihilated by a blast of unknown origin that triggered World War III. The lives of two streetwise teenage friends, Tetsuo and Kaneda, change forever when paranormal abilities begin to waken in Tetsuo, making him a target for a shadowy agency that will stop at nothing to prevent another catastrophe like the one that leveled Tokyo. At the core of the agency’s motivation is a raw, all-consuming fear of an unthinkable, monstrous power known only as Akira.

Katsuhiro Otomo’s stunning science fiction masterpiece is considered by many to be the finest work of graphic fiction ever produced, and Otomo’s brilliant animated film version is regarded worldwide as a classic.

Tron 3 Will Be Empire Strikes Back Says Director Joseph Kosinski

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4714:]]Disney is moving forward with the sequel to Tron: Legacy as a script is already in the works from Jesse Wigutow, Garrett Hedlund is set to reprise as Sam Flynn, and director Joseph Kosinski will return as well.

The Collider recently caught up with Kosinski who updated them on the status of “Tron 3.”

Kosinksi says the movie is going to be awesome, and that they only way he told Disney he would be back if it would be his “Empire Strikes Back.”

“I’ve said it would have to be our Empire Strikes Back for me to come back and for me to pull the whole team back together.  I think we do have that idea.  We do have the idea that feels big and really blows the doors off this franchise.  It’s hinted at promises of something for two movies now, for thirty years, so it’s time to deliver on that.  But the script’s got to be at a level that makes it worth going back for, because it’s a lot of work to make a movie. like this and it’s a multi-year project.  So we’ve got our writer Jesse Wigutow on it right now writing, and fingers crossed if it all comes together, as we hope it will, there could be another Tron in the next few years, and it’s going to be awesome.”

No story ideas were mentioned, but Kosinksi offered that some time has passed since Tron: Legacy and that it’s not going to be a rehash of that movie.

I think time has passed.  It feels like we’re kind of real-time in step.  So however much time has passed sinceLegacy came out would also have transpired in the real world.  So it will still be contemporary.  So let’s say if the Tron sequel comes out in 2015, then four or five years have passed since the last movie.”

“I don’t want to say too much about it but the goal would not be to simply re-use.  We’re not going to re-use the assets from Legacy, that’s no fun.  If we’re going to do to it we’re going to reinvent all over again and it’s going to be a whole new generation for reasons that are very story-driven.  That’s all I can say.”

Kosinksi says a lot more, which you can read about via the link above, including that they will be taking their time on the script for “Tron 3,” and he goes on to say how he is really excited for the movie.

The idea itself, the notion of what the next Tron could be, is exciting enough that it would be worth going back to do it.

Garrett Hedlund Returns For Tron 3

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4687:]]Garrett Hedlund will return to Disney’s “Tron 3,” reprising as Sam Flynn.

Hedlund confirmed the news with NextMovie as he told them when asked:

“Yeah,” Hedlund said when we pressed him for details on his “Tron” participation while doing press in New York ahead of the U.S. release of “On the Road.” “Are we gonna break this now?”

“Disney’s very excited,” he said of the project. “That’s about that. You know, yeah, I’m very excited, Disney’s very excited.”

Director Joseph Kosinski returns as well with the Tron 3″ script being written by Jesse Wigutow.

Garret Hedlund was also said to be up for the lead role in the James Gunn Guardians of the Galaxy movie; however, with “Tron 3″ said to begin filming in 2014 will Disney feature Hedlund in two sci-fi type movies/franchises?
