Justice League Movie 2015 Rumors: Everything We Are Told

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1852:]]

Throughout the day we have been posting news about the new Justice League movie.

Now we are here to reveal all we have been told!

Previous articles include news on the Man of Steel spearheading the DC shared movie universe, the new Batman, and Ryan Reynolds reprising as Green Lantern — all of which you can read about below. Comic Book writer Mark Millar has also commented on the Justice League Movie script which you can read about here.

Here we go:

• Our source tells us that the major developments are underway at DC Entertainment — and the Man of Steel will spearhead it all.

•  The Man of Steel will be chapter #1 of a shared universe, it will all bend around that film.

•  In chronological terms, the Man of Steel is the first.

•  Henry Cavill will be given a new contract after Man of Steel that would probably include a pay raise along with his new terms that feature the Justice League film and subsequent sequels.

• Lobo will be the second movie after Man of Steel, and is said to take place off Earth and won’t affect any of the other films.

The Flash and Wonder Woman (Nicolas Winding Refn is expected to be directing) scripts will be spin-offs from the Justice League film that should be released summer 2014/2015, and The Flash will be rewritten to fit around events that will transpire in Justice League.

• Ryan Reynolds will be expected to reprise his role as Green Lantern, and the events that transpired in his film – although they won’t be ignored in the Justice League Movie, they won’t be acknowledged either. It will sort of be hints to his backstory, and the character will be more serious than in the solo film (more like how he was towards the end of the film).

• The Green Lantern sequel has a treatment but the situation is unclear. It most likely will be brought to a stage where it is near getting the green light, and will be held there until things become clearer where that franchise is headed.

• The rebooted Batman film (won’t be an origin story, but will focus on a Batman who is entering his second year as a hero) will be a part of the same universe.

• The details plot wise for the Justice League Movie are unknown, but a couple comic book writers have penned the treatment that Will Beall will be scripting.

• Christopher Nolan won’t be directing the Justice League Movie.

• There aren’t any directors set for the Justice League Movie yet, although a shortlist has been drawn up (Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebsman, David Yates are rumoured within WB) by the execs.

• The budget for the Justice League Movie will be around $270 million.

• DC are looking to release 2 films a year. So expect something like this:

Man of Steel (2013) Zack Snyder; David Goyer & Christopher Nolan; HenryCavill

Lobo (2014) Brad Peyton; TBA

Justice League (2015) TBA;

The Batman (2016)

Wonder Woman (2016) TBA (Most Likely Nicolas Winding Refn); Michael Goldenburg

The Flash (2017) TBA; Greg Berlanti, Marc Gruggenheim & Michael Green; TBA

Updated 6/7/12:

• The Justice League movie is David Yates’ to lose; he is the heavy favorite to become director of the movie.

• The look of the film will not be as colorful or as bright as Marvel’s The Avengers  — which looked like a comic book in real life.

• The Justice League Movie will look like an epic blockbuster film in tone with The Dark Knight Trilogy and Man of Steel, which is something Warner Bros. is keen on — to avoid similarities with The Avengers.

• Christopher Nolan is “godfathering” the project from a distance, meaning more or less Warner Bros. went to him and asked his opinions and how he would he do things.

• Christopher Nolan may well be credited as an Executive Producer on the film with wife Emma Thomas.

Updated 6/30/12:

• Director should be publically attached within the next three months along with producers.

• Executive Producers will most likely be Geoff Johns, Thomas Tull, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas.

• Legendary Pictures will be co-producing the film with Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Flash and Wonder Woman movie debuts updated to 2015.

Exclusive: WB Planning An “Attack” In Response To The Avengers Movie

picIf you have been surfing the spaceways recently here at Cosmic Book News you know we just posted some information in regards to The Dark Knight Rises as well as the Man of Steel trailer.

Likewise, for the past year or so we have been receiving information about those movies, as well as Green Lantern and even a Justice League Movie.

Seems our source is more of a DC guy, but he isn’t afraid to admit that he was very impressed by The Avengers movie.

With that, he offers a small bit of news in that The Avengers has not gone unnoticed by DC.

Regarding Green Lantern 2, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and JL, IF a Justice League is going to be made, which there isn’t any concrete plans for, Henry Cavill WON’T be involved from what it looks like. GL2 and Flash scripts are still being polished before they are given the green light to go into production, and there isn’t any current plans for any other solo movies at the minute. Things are quiet at DC Entertainment as they basically plan an attack in response to the awesome job Marvel is doing.

News of Henry Cavill not partaking in a Justice League movie is no surprise as previously director Zack Snyder has stated his Superman will not be part of any other movie. While last we heard it was a possibility, it seems things may have changed.

While we wait to see just what develops from Warner Bros., we do have The Dark Knight Rises to look forward to this Summer as well as the new Superman movie next June.

Flash Movie Still In Development

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1130:]]Last we heard anything in regards to a Flash movie was last June, by DC Comics writer and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, who stated that Flash was in development.

Johns also co-wrote the treatment with Wrath of Titans scribe Dan Mazeau.

Mazeau recently mentioned The Flash while talking with Blastr, and offers an update.

“I think Warner Bros. is finalizing their strategy of how they want to roll out their DC superheroes, and obviously they’ve got Batman in an incredibly great place, and Green Lantern, I think, performed okay,” Mazeau told Blastr. “I think they probably would have liked it to have done better, but yeah, there is still a whole lot of excitement for the DC universe, and I know The Flash is very high on the list.”

Mazeau continues, mentioning that the cards have to be in order for The Flash to happen, and seems to offer that we might be hearing something soon.

“It’s like anything, though,” he said. “It has to come together with the right cast. It has to come together with the right director and sort of the right moment, and so they’re trying to push the rock up the hill … hopefully there will be some news soon, but right now I can’t really say anything else.”

Speaking of a director, previously Real Steel director Shawn Levy’s name was attached to The Flash, but things fell apart when WB was supposed to do a Justice League movie, which never came about. However, Levy didn’t rule out a return to The Flash.

At one time Bradley Cooper, of The Hangover fame, was even said to be in contention to play the Speedster, but Cooper stated that he tried out for Green Lantern, and isn’t in a hurry to put on a “cape” again.

And speaking of a Justice League movie, Cosmic Book News was indeed told that Warner Bros. and DC are planning a shared Universe for some time around 2015 or 2016.

Bradley Cooper not likely to play The Flash

Bradley Cooper was in contention to play Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, but was beat out by Ryan Reynolds.

ObsessedWithFilm.com asked the actor if he would be interested at all in playing The Flash.

It was reported that Cooper was in the lead for the role of Barry Allen as Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green and Greg Berlanti have worked on the story with Guggenheim and Berlanti on the script.

The actor responded reluctantly with:

“Well I auditioned for the The Green Lantern and didn’t get it so I’m reluctant to put on the cape again.”

Cooper is currently starring in the sci-fi move Limitless with Robert DeNiro that sees a former cocaine-addict who discovers a top-secret drug which bestows him with super human abilities.

Check out the trailer for Limitless below and here for a few clips from the movie featuring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro in action.

Limitless is in theaters March 18th.

Green Lantern Sequel and The Flash To Share Same Writing Team

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:185:]]
Late last night http://www.heatvisionblog.com/ reported that Warner Brothers is stepping up their Super-Hero movie productions. They have signed Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim to begin working on a second Green Lantern movie in addition to a movie based on The Flash. According to the article under this deal, they would then go on to write the screenplay for one of the two projects – though which one has not been determined.

Green Lantern is currently shooting in New Orleans with Martin Campbell directing and staring Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Green Lantern  is based on the DC comic book about test Pilot Hal Jordan who becomes part of an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. Development on a second installment this far out from a movie’s release date is rare, signaling the studio’s confidence in what it sees so far.

It appears according to the article that The Flash will be drawn from the resent relaunch of the comic franchise which has been written by Geoff Johns.

“The ‘Flash’ film will take inspiration from Johns’ recent work and will feature the Barry Allen incarnation of the character. (In comics lore, several names have wielded the Flash mantle, though Allen, created in 1956, remains by far the most popular.)”

Berlanti, creator of “Everwood,” recently directed the feature “Life as We Know it,” starring Katherine Heigl, and is an exec producer on ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters.” He co-created “Eli Stone” with Guggenheim, who is exec producing ABC’s upcoming superhero drama “No Ordinary Family.” Berlanti co-created “Family,” which stars Michael Chiklis.  Green worked with Berlanti on “Everwood” and created NBC’s “Kings.”
