Guardians of the Galaxy Owns Superman & Man of Steel

Last night saw the debut of the relatively unknown newcomers to Marvel Studios with the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer.

The trailer debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live with a special introduction by the star of the movie, Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord.

It’s learned that Guardians of the Galaxy outperformed even Superman as the buzz on social networks was enough to surpass Man of Steel.

According to the social media research firm Fizziology (via The Wrap), Guardians of the Galaxy netted 88,000 mentions across Twitter, Facebook and various blogs in a 12-hour period between 11 p.m. EST until 11 a.m. EST.

Man of Steel – in the first 24 hours – following its trailer debut attracted 75,000 social mentions.

To date, the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer currently has over 5.5 million views in its first 24 hours.

“The reaction was giddy,” Ben Carlson, president and co-creator of Fizziology, said reports, the Wrap.. “I think a lot of people didn’t know how the film was going to work,  it’s five superheroes and one of them is a raccoon and another is a tree. But they nailed the tone. It was light and fun and full of action and you see that reflected in the social media reaction.

A breakdown of the characters of the Guardians of the Galaxy yielded that Chris Pratt was mentioned about 5 percent in conversations with Rocket Raccoon 3 percent and Groot about 1 percent.

“[Chris Pratt as Star-Lord] was earning a lot of comparisons to a young Harrison Ford as Han Solo, so that’s a good sign,” offered Carlson.

The song used in the trailer, which will be featured in the movie as well, “Hooked on a Feeling,” was mentioned in 2 percent of discussions.

It’s thought Rocket Raccoon may have had kryptonite in his gun (wink, wink).

“Guardians of the Galaxy” has an August 1, 2014 release in the U.S. starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana As Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Disel as Groot, Lee Pace as Ronan, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Djimon Houndsou as Korath, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Benicio del Toro as The Collector, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey and Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael.

Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer Coming Tomorrow Says Marvel Facebook Page

It definitely looks as if the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer will be released tomorrow as – of all places – the official Marvel Thailand Facebook page says as much.

I’m actually surprised none of those “teasers for a teaser” have been released with an advanced look at the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer.

The Thailand Facebook page has it as follows:

Tomorrow!! The first examples of tracking Guardians of the Galaxy-including varieties more armed escort universe tells it not to Miss!(Translated by Bing)

While we don’t speak Thai, it’s speculated to state not to miss the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer tomorrow.

If indeed the trailer is released, perhaps we’ll get our first Guardians of the Galaxy movie poster as well.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” has an August 1, 2014 release in the U.S.

NYCC Hijacks Attendees Twitter & Facebook Accounts

I’m guessing this is against both Twitter and Facebook’s terms of service, but apparently the folks who run the NYCCReedPop – have hijacked attendees social media accounts.

What happened is mysterious tweets and Facebook posts began popping up on people’s accounts promoting the NYCC.

It looks as if people who purchased tickets attached their social network profiles to their NYCC accounts, and the NYCC took full advantage through the use of a new RFID chip.

Basically what happens when you give an App permission to access your various accounts is it asks for permission. A majority of the Apps ask for access to your walls, posts etc., but none of them (at least that I have used) will post something without the user’s specific knowledge (as is the case here).

Well, when attendees swiped their NYCC badge this year, tweets and Facebook posts went out – and they weren’t from the person. The NYCC is using RFID chips this year to keep track of all the attendees whereabouts at the Con, so when an attendee first swiped their badge something like the following was sent out (via Bleeding Cool):

We also see the links are using, which enables the NYCC to keep track of all the clicks.

Kinda shady.

To remove the permissions:

On Twitter go to:

On Facebook:

Update: ReedPop offered the following response:

As you may have seen yesterday, there were some posts to Twitter and Facebook issued by New York Comic Con on behalf of attendees after RFID badges were registered. This was an opt-in function after signing in, but we were probably too enthusiastic in our messaging and eagerness to spread the good word about NYCC. We have since shut down this service completely and apologize for any perceived overstep. Please accept our apologies and have an absolutely excellent time this weekend. – Your friends at NYCC

Vin Diesel Teases Voice Recording Groot For Guardians of the Galaxy

Vin Diesel updated his Facebook page with the following image, which shows a picture of Groot as well as the actor in the sound booth.

Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm Groot for Guardians of the Galaxy, but the actor did in a recent interview stating his daughter pointed at a picture of Groot concept art that Marvel provided, and from that point forward Vin Diesel was Groot.

The same interview had Vin Diesel also mention he is in talks for another Marvel Studios franchise in 2016. Maybe Black Bolt of the Inhumans?

We are guessing the following image may be from when Diesel did Iron Giant with some added photoshop effects for Groot. Seems strange Marvel hasn’t officially announced Vin Diesel as Groot. Perhaps they are waiting until the movie’s release with a dual announcement about the other character for 2016.

The “Guardians of the Galaxy movie” has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Glen Close as Nova Prime, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.

BOOM! Studios Reveals She-Devils From George Perez

Back in July, legendary creator George Perez signed exclusively with BOOM! Studios to do creator-owned work.

Now BOOM! Studios has announced the first title with She-Devils, a four-issue mini-series coming in 2014.

George Perez released the art as well as some info on his Facebook:

Okay! It’s now official!
The title of my new series for BOOM! Studios is SHE-DEVILS (taking the title from a one-shot fan comic I did just as I was turning pro in 1974.) This is the first promo art spotlighting the nine lead characters. Just as I did with CRIMSON PLAGUE years ago, I’m using real people as my models and inspiration.
Beyond the characters shown here, I’ve already enlisted a good number of friends, fans and members of my extended family to appear as characters in this series and will likely be needing to ask for more, especially those in the cosplay community. I’m imagining a big SHE-DEVILS photo shoot some time in the future with everybody playing his or her own comic book alter ego!
Pictured here are
Top Row: Bombshell, Ammo, Barrage
Center Row, Agony, Highness ,Figurine, Kaje
Bottom center: Fanisha
Backround Interface
I am definitely in the market for more cast members, so if you’re interested and I haven’t spoken to yet (or even if I did), please feel free to send me a private message. Please note that, while I would love to use everyone who wants to be in this series, there’s no way I can fit everyone, so please don’t take it personally if I don’t use you.
This should be FUN!!

Fans Continue To Go Crazy Over Ben Affleck As Batman: Issue Death Threats On Facebook

Earlier, Cosmic Book News reported on the fan response to the announcement that Ben Affleck is the new Batman, which included the launching of dozens of petitions with one going so far as to demand that President Obama make it illegal.

Now the fandom has apparently gone to a whole different level as reports are surfacing from Facebook that fans are actually leaving death threats in their pms and messages.

One Facebook page in particular mentions that there have been death threats regarding Ben Affleck as Batman with the Man of Steel Fan Page on Facebook having to turn of private messages and notifying their almost 250,000 members to keep it cool.

They write:

It’s quite another, and totally unwarranted, to message death threats to the page admins over it.

…to make a threat of violence against any person is completely unacceptable and it diminishes the credibility of ALL superhero genre fans and dismisses you all into a non-relevant “lunatic” category.

…have turned off private messaging this morning. We have no plans of when it might be turned back on again. If you don’t like a casting choice, please find respectful ways, non-violent ways of expressing it.

The page continues with mention they don’t think the threats are credible and mentions “being hateful is not the answer,” which is some sound advice.

The sequel to “Man of Steel” goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

For more news on the “Man of Steel” and related movies head on over to the Cosmic Book News Superman movie hub.
