Watch: Jude Law Talks About How He Almost Became Superman

Prior to Superman Returns, Brett Ratner was supposed to direct the first of a new Superman trilogy, “Supermayn Flyby,” with the script written by J.J. Abrams.

The studio’s choice to play Superman was Jude Law.

Above you can check out Jude Law recently talking with MTV as he recounts his experience turning down the studio, but does say for an instance, he was Superman.

The Ratner-Abrams Superman movie featured huge special effects and fight scenes as well as the death of Superman and the revelation that Lex Luthor was from Krypton.

Ratner apparently dropped out, blaming casting delays and feuds with producers.

McG then came onboard and backed out, with Bryan Singer eventually getting the gig and releasing Superman Returns in 2006.

Superman Flyby Storyboards Reveal Final Battle

Back in 2002, J.J. Abrams handed in a script for “Superman Flyby” that included Kal-El battling his Kryptonian cousin, Ty-Zor.

Initally “Superman Flyby” was going to be directed by Brett Ratner, but then it was moved to McG.

Well, storyboards that McG had put together by artist Adolfo Martinez Perez have surfaced online revealing the film’s final battle between Superman and Ty-Zor.

We also see Lois Lane is involved as well as Lex Luthor.

J.J. Abrams recently revealed that his version of the Man of Steel in “Superman Flyby” would have been more of a self-doubting and seemingly depressed super man.

The script also included a Kryptonian Civil War as well as Superman’s death and rebirth.

Eventually the J.J. Abrams “Superman Flyby” was placed on permanent hold with Bryan Singer coming on board and sticking to the story of the previous movies with Superman Returns.

Check out the “Superman Flyby” storyboards for the grand finale, and to the right is concept art of a possible costume in the movie:

Update: These have been taken down.

Which Superman Movie Was Jackie Collins Talking About With Matt Bomer Being Gay?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3709:]]

Jackie Collins, sister of Joan Collins, recently let it be known that she heard the real reason why Matt Bomer wasn’t cast as Superman because he was gay and the studio didn’t want a gay Superman.

Well, this has created quite the controversy and hit the internet faster than a speeding bullet.

However, now Collins is questioning the validity of her information as EOnline is reporting the real reason that Matt Bomer wasn’t cast as Superman is because of the director change that saw Brett Ratner bow out of “Superman Flyby” and Bryan Singer coming on board for Superman Returns.

“You can’t trust them I guess,” Collins said in a statement this morning. “I have more faith in Santa Claus now than I do an exec.”

While EOnline states that Bomer was passed over for “Superman Flyby,” because of Superman Returns, I can’t but help wonder if that’s the correct Superman movie Collins – or the exec – was referring to, as Bomer tried out for the Man of Steel.

As we reported on earlier, Bomer read lines with Amy Adams – Lois Lane in the Man of Steel – who wasn’t attached to “Superman Flyby.”

Bomer said he was passed over for the role because “the timing wasn’t right.”

Matt Bomer tried out for the Superman role two times, so which is it?

Is Zack Snyder Directing The Justice League Movie?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2833:]]

With all the recent news and rumor in regards to who is directing the Justice League movie, could it actually be Man of Steel‘s Zack Snyder?

We’ve heard a bunch of names thrown around, from Christopher Nolan, to David Yates, Ben Affleck, to the Wachowski’s, and Brett Ratner.

Maybe that’s all smoke and mirrors.

Initially, Zack Snyder came out and said that his Superman was going to have nothing to do with the upcoming Justice League movie – it would be stand alone – much like Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.

So Snyder was trying to tell us that Warner Bros. was rebooting Superman only to have a new Superman featured in the new Justice League Movie?

Yeah, we weren’t buying that either, and sure enough, it eventually came out that the Man of Steel will be spearheading a DC Comics shared movie universe — with Henry Cavill as Superman.

Snyder seems like the obvious choice to helm Justice League. He has the experience directing an ensemble cast of action heroes and special effects with Watchmen and 300. In addition, Warner Bros. is banking on the director with the Man of Steel, and from all reports, the movie looks to be amazing.

Would you want Zack Snyder on as director of the Justice League movie or one of the aforementioned names?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1865:]]

Stay tuned to Cosmic Book News as more on the Man Of Steel develops.

Man Of Steel flies into theaters June 14th, 2013 directed by Zack Snyder starring, Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Diane Lane as Martha “Ma” Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonat han “Pa” Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Russel Crowe as Jor-El.

Now Brett Ratner Is Up To Direct The Justice League Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2783:]]

Christopher Nolan. David Yates. Ben Affleck. The Wachoski’s.

Now, Brett Ratner?

The latest to hit the net is that Warner Bros. is possibly looking at X-Men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner to direct the Justice League movie.

The SupermanSuperSite reports that insiders have informed them that, “The studio is very pleased with the work that Brett [Ratner] has done as a producer and director on past projects. They are now very interested in seeing what he can do with helping finally bring this group of iconic superheroes to the big screen!”

Ratner would be the fourth name mentioned.

Nolan, Yates and Affleck have all seemed to pass on the movie either citing they are not interested or on other projects, and nothing has come from the Wachowski’s camp as of yet.

A couple months ago we were told Christopher Nolan was the obvious choice, and then David Yates turned it down as well.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2784:]]

Then news on a Justice League movie directed by Affleck hit, with it coming out that it was “BS,” only to have Affleck himself come out and dispel the rumor.

The latest was that Warner Bros. was ever so happy with The Wachowski’s upcoming sci-fi movie, Cloud Atlas, that WB was thinking of recruiting them to helm the Justice League movie.

And now we have Brett Ratner.

For more on the Justice League movie head on over to everything we’ve been told, which includes news on a possible 2016 Batman reboot and Henry Cavill starring in the Justice League movie, in addition to the Man of Steel spearheading a DC shared universe, which has been confirmed.
