Billy Dee Williams Said To Cameo In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19458:]]

Cosmic Book News has been shying from reporting on Star Wars rumors as of late: a) because most of them are probably BS, and b) Abrams did say some are true, and I actually want to be able to enjoy the movie when it comes out this December.

However, this latest news is too good to pass up as the Boston Herald is reporting Billy Dee Williams will be returning as Lando Calrissian for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Williams previously made comments that he was unsure if he would be appearing, but would like to do so, and if this report happens to be true, Williams and Star Wars fans have been granted their wish.

“It will be a fun cameo. Billy’s definitely up for it,” a source told the Boston Herald.

The same report also suggests Simon Pegg may make a cameo as well.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has a December 18, 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Lando Calrissian & Billy Dee Williams Absent From Star Wars: Episode VII Cast

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15189:]]

Where’s Lando?

That’s the question that has been asked since Disney and J.J. Abrams announced the cast for Star Wars: Episode VII which sees the return of original actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.

Billy Dee Williams was not named among them, who played Lando Calrissian in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Twitter lit up with disgruntled fans, and Billy Dee Williams retweeted a batch of them; so it’s thought that most likely Billy Dee Williams didn’t turn down an offer to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Casting for Star Wars: Episode VII isn’t totally complete as-of-yet; so it might be possible that Billy Dee Williams could cameo. Or is it possible seeing how Lando Calrissian first appeared in Episode V – that he might be appearing as Lando in Episode VIII?

Billy Dee Williams Confirms In Talks For New Star Wars As Lando Calrissian

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:6062:]]We can add a fourth to the list of original returning characters in talks to come back for Star Wars Episode VII.

Joining Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher is Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian.

FilmBuffOnline reports that Billy Dee Williams has stated he has been asked to return, but hasn’t made a decision as of yet.

George Lucas recently came out and stated that the originals were basically cast before the Disney deal and seemed to imply an official announcement would be forthcoming, but Disney was waiting on doing some kind of spectacle surrounding it.

The character of Lando Calrissian first appeared in Empire Strikes Back as a long time friend of Han Solo as Solo; however, due to pressures put on him by the Empire, Calrissian had to betray Solo, giving him up to the bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Eventually, Lando helps the rebels escape his Cloud City and joins the Rebellion.

Star Wars Episode VII has a 2015 release date directed by J.J. Abrams.

Star Wars Episode VII Has Lando Calrissian Rumored

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4115:]]Just yesterday we heard that Billy Dee Williams, better known as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars movies, seemed interested enough in returning to the new Disney movies.

Now, a rumor has surfaced that Lando Calrissian does have a part in Michael Arndt’s Star Wars Episode VII treatment.

It’s previously come out that the new Star Wars movie will feature the original characters, with of course, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo coming to mind.

But Lando Calrissian fans can now rest easy as MovieHole reports Lando is part of that group as well.

Connecting with a former Lucasfilm employee, MovieHole is told, when asked about particulars, “No idea. just Luke, Leia, Han, Lando.”

It’s also said that any new Star Wars information is hard to come by as only the top brass of Lucasfilm seem to know anything; however, rumors of new Star Wars movies were present at Lucasfilm prior to the Disney acquisition.

Fans are also hoping for appearances by Chewbacca as well.
