Watch: Better Call Saul Extended Trailer

AMC has released an extended trailer for the upcoming Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul.

Better Call Saul kicks off with a two-night series premiere on Sunday, February 8th at 10/9c and Monday, February 9th at 10/9c.

About

Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White’s lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is “fixer” Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “criminal lawyer.”

The series also stars Michael McKean as Chuck, Rhea Seehorn as Kim, Patrick Fabian as Hamlin, and Michael Mando as Nacho — characters that will represent both legitimate and illegitimate sides of the law.

Breaking Bad creator and showrunner Vince Gilligan and Breaking Bad writer and producer Peter Gould created the show together and serve as co-showrunners of the premiere season. Gilligan directed the first episode of the series, which has already been greenlit for a second season of 13 episodes. The debut season will consist of 10 episodes.

Breaking Bad Saul Goodman Spinoff Series Announced

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:10985:]]

Having been in the works for months, it is now confirmed that the Breaking Bad Saul Goodman TV series has finally been green lit with a deal reached between the show’s creator, Vince Gilligan, AMC and Sony Pictures TV.

Deadline has it that the working title for the new series is “Better Call Saul,” with a one-hour prequel ordered that will focus on the evolution of the Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.

It’s also stated a full series looks to be picked up depending on further negotiations with the Gilligan and the Studio. Apparently, Netflix is also interested in a Saul Goodman series, as they are said to be extremely happy with how Breaking Bad has been performing on their steaming service.

The character of Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk, first appeared in Breaking Bad Season 2 quickly becoming a fan-favorite. Basically Goodman is a sleazy lawyer who will bend the law depending on the amount of money.

As Deadline notes, Gilligan has been high on the idea for over a year.

“I would love to see a Saul Goodman spinoff,” Gilligan said in a previous interview. “I like the idea of a lawyer show in which the main lawyer will do anything it takes to stay out of a court of law. He’ll settle on the courthouse steps, whatever it takes to stay out of the courtroom. That would be fun — I would like that.”

Breaking Bad is down to its last three episodes starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul airing Sunday nights on AMC at 9pm ET.
