CW’s “Arrow” References Nightwing’s Bludhaven

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3751:]]

Any chance Nightwing could be appearing in an upcoming episode of CW’s new hit show, Arrow?

Arrow does have a Christopher Nolan-like approach to it, and Nightwing would fit in perfectly with the show as Nightwing isn’t a super powered hero.

The latest promo for Arrow reveals a reference to Bludhaven, which is the city where Nightwing fights crime, and is a neighbor to Gotham City.

While it could just be an Easter Egg for fans of the DC Comics, this would be pretty awesome if Nightwing became a reoccurring character.

It’s even been put forth that Batman might show, with some theorizing that John Barrowman might be portraying Bruce Wayne.

Arrow airs Wednesday at 8pm ET on the CW.

CW’s Arrow Gets A Full Season

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3655:]]

The CW has green lit an entire full season for the new DC Comics show, Arrow.

Word comes from Green Arrow himself on Twitter as Stephen Amell announced the good news.

Best way to start a Monday? Getting picked up for your back nine episodes. Thwick. #Arrow

Arrow has been a huge hit for the CW as it produced the CW’s highest ratings in 3 years.

It obviously has similarities to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy – not just in tone and feel – but story as well, which may explain why it’s so popular.

I’m not a big Green Arrow comic book fan, but I am enjoying this series; however, for a “super hero” show, it’s actually quite violent as Oliver Queen kills the bad guys, while compared to Batman, who does not (or is not supposed to at least).

Of course keep in mind that the creators on Arrow don’t necessarily consider this a “super hero” show as they have said numerous times no superheroes or super powers will be featured.

Seems to be working for them.

Arrow airs Wednesdays on the CW at 8pm ET.

ARROW HITS THE BULLSEYE FOR THE CW

ARROW Gives The CW Its Most Watched Telecast in Three Years

ARROW Most Watched CW Premiere Since THE Vampire Diaries

SUPERNATURAL Has Most Watched Episode in Two Years

The CW Has Best Wednesday Night in Two Years

October 11, 2012 (Burbank, CA) – Last night’s premiere of ARROW was right on target for The CW – it drew 4.02 million viewers, the most watched telecast on the network of any show, on any night, in three years (11/12/2009), according to preliminary Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

ARROW was The CW’s most watched premiere since THE Vampire Diaries (9/10/2009). ARROW was also the most watched show in the Wednesday 8PM time period in more than three years (5/13/2009)

The ARROW premiere also gave SUPERNATURAL a boost last night; it was SUPERNATURAL’s most watched episode (2.6M) since 10/15/10, and it had its best adults 18-34 rating (1.0/3) since 3/4/11.

Week to week, SUPERNATURAL was up 40% in total viewers, and up two-tenths in both adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 (1.0/3).

Last night was The CW’s best Wednesday night in total viewers (3.3M) in more than two years (5/12/10) and in two years in adults 18-34 (1.0/3, 12/1/10) and in adults 18-49 (1.2/3, 10/13/10)

Watch The Full Episode Of CW’s Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3485:]]

The CW has made available the full episode for the debut of last night’s Arrow on their website.

I DVR’d it and watched it last night; thought it was pretty good.

It’s really dark, with killing and such, lots of action, fight choreography was pretty good as was the acting.

All in all, not bad.

I’ll admit I’m not a big fan of “arrow” types of characters as I find them sorta boring (cosmic, remember?), but Stephen Amell and the CW did keep my attention.

If you are a fan of Smallville – this ain’t it – but you will see some familiar surroundings.

And I while watching, I couldn’t get it out of my head that I wanted to see Green Arrow take on Batman, as the two have a very different philosophy when it comes to the bad guys, which you can see for yourself by watching.

The only red flag I see is that the villains may come off as “cheezy,” Arrow needs something akin to a Michael Rosenbaum who was a phenomenal Lex Luthor in Smallville.

Still, I’ll be watching next week.

Will you?

New Trailer For CW’s Arrow Now Online “Justice” Preview

The CW released a new “Justice Preview” for the new upcoming Green Arrow series, Arrow.

We just heard from the Arrow executive producers in that the series will not feature super powers (if you didn’t know already), and probably won’t feature a crossover with Wonder Woman’s “Amazon,” because of that very reason.

Looks like Christopher Nolan set the bar with his Batman movies and Arrow is following in suit.

Arrow is developed by Green Lantern movie screenwriters Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti, and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, and stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow.

“Arrow” premiers on the CW Wednesday October 10th at 8pm ET.

No CW Green Arrow – Wonder Woman “Amazon” Crossover

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3007:]]DC Comics book fans may be getting two new television series as a new Wonder Woman show, “Amazon,” was recently announced, which would accompany the new Green Arrow series, Arrow.

However, unlike their comic book counterparts, it seems as if there will be no sharing of characters between the two.

“Our show definitely takes place in a much more realistic world,” Executive Producer of Arrow, Andrew Kreisberg, noted to THR. “There’s no superpowers, superheroes and aliens. With Wonder Woman, Diana of Themyscira, there are superpowers. I don’t foresee crossovers but one of the great things about superheroes is that they’re constantly being reimagined. There’s the Adam West and Christopher Nolan versions of Batman and one doesn’t obviate the other. The Lynda Carter version was great and now the CW is hopefully developing another wonderful version that will be a nice compliment to Arrow.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3008:]]While the two characters might not see each other in each’s respective TV shows, that doesn’t mean there isn’t enough room for both Green Arrow and Wonder Woman on the CW, with Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim even noting the CW could do a super hero block featuring Arrow and “Amazon.”

“It harkens back to the years of my childhood where you had The Six Million Dollar Man and Wonder Woman and all these superhero-like genre shows all on the dial and all you had to do was change the channel. I think there’s totally room for both shows. It would be fun to share a night with them; the CW programs two hours a night and that’d be a pretty kick-ass night of television,” Guggeheim said.

“Arrow” kicks off on the CW Wednesday, October 10th at 8pm ET.

The Huntress To Appear In CW’s Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2660:]]

Another DC Comics character will be appearing in the new CW TV series, Arrow.

This time, it’s The Huntress being played by Jessica De Gouw.

The official description for De Gouw’s character reads (via EW):

“Helena is a potential love interest for Oliver Queen; a fellow vigilante, set on destroying her father’s organized crime empire. But Helena’s blind pursuit of revenge will put her on a collision course with the Arrow.”

Arrow premiers Wednesday, October 10th with Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow.

Doctor Who’s John Barrowman Joins CW’s Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2629:]]

John Barrowman, of Doctor Who and Torchwood fame, has joined the cast of CW’s new Arrow TV series.

The role is described by EW as a recurring one with Barrowman’s character said to be a “well-dressed man” who is “as mysterious as he is wealthy … he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City.”

EW notes it could possibly be Philanthropist Stanley Dover Sr. from the Green Arrow comic books.

John Barrowman is known from Doctor Who and Torchwood as Captain Jack Harkness, a popular and fan-favorite character.

Arrow premiers Wednesday October 10th at 8pm ET on the CW.

Firestorm May Appear In CW’s “Arrow” – and Batman?!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2475:]]

So far everything that has been coming out of the CW regarding Arrow has looked and sounded really good.

The actor playing Oliver Queen, Stephen Amell, seems super psyched, we are getting characters like China White, Deathstroke and Deadshot as well, and now we are even hearing that Firestorm – and maybe even Batman – will be appearing.

Regarding Firestorm…

Emily Bett Rickards has been cast in the role of Felicity Smoak, known to Firestorm fans as the stepmother of Ronnie Raymond — “one half” of Firestorm. Of course with Smoak being involved – and said to be reoccurring – it’s not too hard to think some sort of Firestorm appearance or even mention might be a part of Arrow. (Via Kabookit)

Now for Batman.

While Smallville fans never got to see Batman in their favorite TV super show – though they eventually do in the comic book – Bruce Wayne and company may have a chance of appearing in Arrow.

The reason that there was no Batman in Smallville was simply because of Christopher Nolan and his Dark Knight Trilogy of movies. But now that they are finished, the Batman does have a shot of appearing on TV.

“Oh, my hope is that we can use him at some point. I think that plagued the Smallville showrunners more than it plagues us because, obviously, the Dark Knight Trilogy is over,” Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim told IGN. “They’re not available to us yet. My hope is that they’ll be available to us at some point. That would be awesome. No question, that would be absolutely awesome. But I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade.”

And in the same interview with IGN, Guggenheim hints at more DC Comics superheroes.

“I would say, ‘Probably.’ One of the things we want to do is roll the show out at the right pace. For the most part, I think we’ve taken the philosophy that things are happening sooner rather than later. I always feel like every time we get the note from the network, ‘Is this happening too soon?,’ I feel like we’re on the right track. I know as a viewer myself, I’m impatient. I want to see stuff. We’re not going to make the audience wait to see characters, plot twists, revelations. I think running out of great characters and great moments is a quality problem to have, and I just want to have them.”

Arrow debuts on the CW Wednesday, October 10th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

CW Releases New “Arrow” Promo With Green Arrow’s Mask

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2401:]]

How many are looking forward to the new dark and gritty Green Arrow on the CW’s Arrow?

It’s been described as a different take than the previous DC Comics TV show, Smallville, as that was a bit light-hearted, and dare I say “corny” — but in a good way.

Well, the CW has released a new promo clip for Arrow featuring Green Arrow, and we get a look at Oliver Queen wearing the “mask.”

Or is that makeup?

Check it out below (via THR).

Arrow premiers on the CW Wednesday October 10th at 8pm ET starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

Green Arrow Stephen Amell Talks Superman Henry Cavill; Wants Terrance Stamp As Zod In Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2333:]]

New Green Arrow Stephen Amell took to video to have a Q&A with his fans.

The actor discussed shooting the new series as well as reading the comic books and more.

During the Q&A (11:30 mark), Amell was asked if there were no budget concerns who would he like to guest star on Arrow?

Amell’s answer? Terrance Stamp as General Zod.

And speaking of Superman, Stephen Amell met up with Henry Cavill at the recent San Diego-Comic Con.

Amell said he only spoke with Cavill for a short time, and that his brother-in-law was there who took a photo with Cavill.

Henry Cavill, being the ever humble good guy that he is, had no problems taking a pic with Amell’s brother-in-law, Kevin, as Amell joked, Kevin “looked a little bit of a sociopath” while wearing a Superman shirt, and that Henry was “very cool with him” and “a good guy.” (14:00 mark)

Arrow kicks off on this Fall on the CW Wednesday, October 10th.

Synopsis:

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. First Look At CW’s Stephen Amell As Green Arrow

We get our first look at Stephen Amell As Green Arrow in the new show on CW, aptly titled “Arrow.”

We also learn that “Arrow” will be a bit darker than Smallville, as director/executive producer David Nutter fills us in.

“When I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. Arrow is a different show — darker and harder-edged — but it’s the same core idea. We’re creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. Colleen Atwood’s great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort.”

The design of the suit is by three-time Oscar®-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood.

CW Orders Green Arrow TV Series Pilot, ‘Arrow’

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:367:]]About a week ago it was made known that CW was looking at a new Green Arrow TV series.

Now they have indeed ordered up a pilot, with the series named “Arrow.”

Deadline announced the news, stating the new TV series is described as a modern retelling of the DC Comics superhero Green Arrow.

Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern movie), and Andrew Kreisberg (The Vampire Diaries, Eli Stone, Warehouse 13) are listed as writers/executive producers on the pilot, with Kreisberg and Guggenheim on as writers based on a Berlanti and Guggenheim story; David Nutter (Shameless, Entourage, Game Of Thrones, X-Files) is to direct.

Justin Hartley, Smallville‘s GA, is again said not to be involved.
