Earlier today, Marvel announced four new TV series coming to Netflix with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage leading to a big mini-series with The Defenders.

Now Disney CEO Bob Iger has commented publicly about the Netflix deal and in doing so reveals that Disney is developing a second TV series for ABC in addition to Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Speaking with Bloomberg in the following video, Bob Iger says the new Marvel series on Netflix will start in 2016 and when questioned why the shows didn’t go to Hulu (which Disney owns), Iger mentioned another series being developed for ABC.

“We actually talked about making these series available to others, and there was quite a bit of interest in the marketplace for these series,” Iger said in response.” And the answer is yes. We will as a company create more original programming for platforms that are not ours. We have some great networks as a company as you known with ABC, ABC Family, The Disney Channel, not to mention ESPN and Life, but they’re not going to buy original, scripted programming for a while anyway. But we can sell just so much programming from Marvel to them,” Iger continues, “We’ve got a good show in S.H.I.E.L.D. and another one being developed for ABC, more plans on our Disney channels with Marvel, but this seemed to be a great opportunity, and I think there will be other opportunities on other platforms to do some more things.”

It’s quite possible the second ABC Marvel series could be Agent Carter, which has previously been rumored and mentioned.

The Agent Carter short follows Hayley Atwell as secret agent Peggy Carter set one year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger

First Look At Hayley Atwell Marvel Studios Short Film “Agent Carter”

Debuting next Friday at Comic-Con is the new Marvel Studios short film, Agent Carter, starring Hayley Atwell.

Atwell reprises her character from Captain America: The First Avenger, British operative Peggy Carter.

Dominic Cooper also returns as Howard Stark, with the film taking place a year since Captain America plunged into the ocean.

“The SSR is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting Zodiac,” Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito said. “Zodiac in the books has been many many different things. We just want you to know it’s deadly, it’s important, bad guys are guarding it, and it’s imperative she gets it.”

Agent Carter will also be a part of the Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray.

EW released a cool retro-poster as well as some image stills from the short film.
