[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18079:]]

Marvel has announced Agent Carter will premeire with a two hour event on Tuesday, January 6th starting at 8pm ET and running to 10pm ET on ABC.

The series takes place between the mid-season break for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

See details below.

Info:

It’s 1946 and peace has dealt Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field, putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – a.k.a. Captain America. When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, “Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy — the only person he can trust — to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for selling these weapons of mass destruction. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Agent Peggy Carter, James D’Arcy (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”) as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection”), Christopher Markus (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s “The Avengers”), Louis D’Esposito (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s “Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) are executive producers. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Greenlit With Agent Carter

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15294:]]

ABC has ordered a second season for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as a series for Agent Carter, the Captain America spinoff one-shot that was featured on the Iron Man 3 DVD.

Agent Carter will star Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and sees Carter become a secret agent as Captain America lies in the ice. It’s possible the Agent Carter series might be used in-between the mid-season break of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent Carter is described as follows:

It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Poor Ratings May Have Hurt Agent Carter Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:14949:]]

With still no word of a second season for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an interesting remark is buried in Deadline‘s report about the “early buzz” surrounding the network’s upcoming upfront presentations.

While the report mentions Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may be renewed for a second season, and that the new Agent Carter series might come attached with it, it’s also stated that the Agent Carter series didn’t get a straight-to-series greenlight as expected: the “green light never came.”

That may mean a pilot would need to be filmed, and then the network would have to give the okay for a full season instead of going ahead with the pilot and the full season from the get-go.

It’s noted that ABC president Paul Lee said the script is great, with mention the script was finished three months ago as well.

It’s also stated that the option regarding having Hayley Atwell on board the Agent Carter series expired and has been extended.

The report goes on to mention that Agent Carter might serve as a bridge between the Fall and Spring portions of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It’s possible ABC might be taking a second look at the Agent Carter series especially considering the Marvel Studios movie tie-ins have had no impact on ratings for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:14951:]]

The series saw its lowest ratings to date following the much publicized connection to Captain America 2.

Likewise, a special guest appearance by Jaimie Alexander as Sif from the Thor movies had no impact on ratings.

The reason for the poor ratings for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be a few things, with fans mentioning poorly written early episodes, no superheroes or super villains (at least in the first half of the season), expectations not met and episodes airing erratically with at times a month or weeks between episodes.

The creators of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. have since told fans to campaign for the show to ABC if they want a second season.

The most recent episode of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., which tied into Captain America 2, saw 5.37 million viewers tune in, which was actually less than first estimated.

This week’s episode looks to be a key factor as it airs at 9pm ET with ABC replaying last week’s as both tie into Captain America 2. It’s possible audiences didn’t want to spoil themselves by watching the two out of order if they haven’t yet seen Captain America 2.

Agent Carter TV Series Confirmed With Hayley Atwell

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13246:]]

ABC has confirmed the Agent Carter TV series with Hayley Atwell reprising as Agent Peggy Carter.

Today at the Television Critics Association panel, ABC also confirmed the earlier report of Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas on board as the series showrunners.

In addition, THR reports that Captain America writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have written the Agent Carter script.

While the series has yet to be officially greenlit and is stated to only be in development, ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee offered some hope.

“That certainly has a good chance to be on the network,” Lee said.

Agent Carter follows Peggy Carter as a secret agent a year after the events seen in Captain America: The First Avenger in which Steve Rogers gets frozen in ice.

Agent Carter TV Series Now Has Law and Order: SVU Writers

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13232:]]

Though nothing is as of yet confirmed, the Agent Carter TV series now looks to have a pair of writers on board with Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.

A previous rumor stated Hayley Atwell was confirmed for the new series, and most recently Dominic Cooper stated he would be interested in reprising as Howard Stark.

Now Deadline has it that Butters and Fazekas, producers and writers on Law and Order: SVU, will be writing and executive producing the Agent Carter TV series.

Update: ABC confirmed the new Agent Carter series as well as Hayley Atwell at the TCA Panel.

Marvel Studios recently announced a slew of new series including Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Defenders. At the time another series was also said to be in development with it highly speculated to be this Agent Carter series.

The Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray featured the Agent Carter short film which saw Hayley Atwell reprise her character from Captain America: The First Avenger. Atwell is expected back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as well this April.

New Agent Carter TV Series Starring Hayley Atwell Said To Be Coming By End Of Year

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:12863:]]

An Agent Carter series might be joining Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.

A UK tabloid sites reports that English actress Hayley Atwell has landed the role of Peggy Carter (reprising from Captain America and the Agent Carter short film) in the Agent Carter spinoff.

The Mirror reports that Atwell is “thrilled” about landing the prestigious role; that she begins filming the series soon, and it should be out by the end of the year.

Hayley Atwell also will be appearing in Captain America 2 this April.

Back in September it was reported that the Agent Carter series was in development, but Disney CEO Bob Iger didn’t confirm the news when the Marvel Studios Netflix deal was announced, but he did offer one more series was being developed.

The Agent Carter series is described as being a big budget production and a major Marvel project for 2014.
