CAPTAIN AMERICA TURNS 75!
CELEBRATE ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST ICONIC HEROES IN THE ORIGINAL SPECIAL “MARVEL’S CAPTAIN AMERICA: 75 HEROIC YEARS,” JANUARY 19 ON ABC
From his first appearance in 1941 through the 75 years that would follow, Captain America has been one of, if not the most, influential comic book characters ever to be created. New York, 1940. A new era on the horizon. Little did the world know then that this decade would shape the course of history in ways never before seen. But two men, who walked those New York streets, a pair of artists and creators, had a strong feeling of what was to come. And it was an image of freedom that they would create…
Captain America has been the moral compass that has inspired generations to do better and believe in more than themselves. Whether it be leading The Avengers or fighting for his beliefs, even when it meant taking sides against those closest to him during Marvel’s Civil War, “Cap” has been a beacon of light in the Marvel Universe and a central figure in the vast and dynamic world that Marvel fans know and celebrate today.
This special, one-hour event follows the history of Captain America from 1941 to present and explores how the character has been a reflection of the changing times and the world he has existed in throughout the years. Fans will hear from various Marvel luminaries including Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Jeph Loeb, Louis D’Esposito, Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell, as well as family members of Cap’s creators. “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years” will also unveil an exclusive announcement from Marvel Comics.

Let the guessing games begin.
It’s learned John Ridley, the Oscar-winning writer-producer behind 12 Years A Slave and ABC’s American Crime, is developing a new Marvel TV series.
EW.com broke the news, offering Ridley is reinventing an existing Marvel superhero character or property for ABC, but the character and title is unknown.
It’s also unknown if this is related the recent news that Marvel is creating an Agents Of SHIELD spinoff.
If Ridley is on that, it’s possible he would be doing a series about one of the characters from SHIELD (Deathlok?).
Marvel seems to be sticking with their street-level characters, so perhaps Ridley could be going with a Cloak and Dagger series or maybe even Moon Knight.
It’s learned that apparently Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD is doing well enough warrant a spinoff, which more than likely also means a third season is a given.
EW.com reports Marvel is quietly developing the spinoff for ABC which is being developed by Agents Of SHIELD executive producer Jeffrey Bell and SHIELD writer Paul Zbyszewski (Lost, Hawaii Five-0).
It’s said there won’t be a straight-up episode that will create the spinoff (similar to what WB did with Arrow and The Flash), but that this season will have story elements, that are still to come, that will be used to lay the groundwork for the potential new series.
It’s assumed, by the end of the season, the details on the spinoff will be made more clear.
It’s further stated the SHIELD spinoff isn’t guaranteed, as ABC hasn’t even announced a third season for SHIELD, but it’s suggested the spinoff could debut next Fall or mid-season.
Regarding Agent Carter‘s return, the report mentions there is a “60 percent” chance of the series returning.
With the Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy movie netting $750 million, someone at ABC has picked up on the fact that it was inspired by the 2008 Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy comic book as a trade has appeared on Manhattan Love Story.
Former Guardians of the Galaxy artist Brad Walker posted the following image on Instagram from an episode.
While Manhattan Love Story has been cancelled by ABC, the remaining episodes will be featured on Hulu.
Brad is currently doing art for the DC Comics Sinestro series.
The one-hour animated special that kicked off the new Star Wars Rebels series recently will re-air on ABC with an added Darth Vader scene.
Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion will air with the additional footage on ABC on Sunday, October 26th at 7pm ET.
Executive producer Dave Filoni offered in a statement: “We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast. We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”
The television movie Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion delivered 6.5-million viewers in its premieres on Disney Channel and Disney XD around the world including the U.S. and 16 markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa and Canada. The Star Wars Rebels weekly series on Disney XD (Mondays 9:00 p.m. ET/PT), has been renewed for a second season.
Set between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV, the Star Wars Rebels story unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy. Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people. The motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost – cowboy Jedi Kanan, ace pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the “muscle” Zeb, warrior firebrand Sabine, and grumpy old astromech droid Chopper – will face threatening new villains, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.
The voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus and Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor.

Less than 24 hours after the news first hit that a federal lawsuit has been filed against X-Men: Days Of Future Past director Bryan Singer in regards to allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy 15 years ago, the ramifications have already started as it’s learned ABC has begun pulling promos with Singer’s named attached.
Deadline reports that ABC has pulled promos for the new drama series The Black Box in which Bryan Singer is an executive producer. It’s said a small number of promos featuring Singer’s name that have been in circulation have been pulled. The series premieres next week.
Regarding the lawsuit which was filed by the same attorney that represented the alleged Elmo Kevin Clash sex abuse victims, it alleges that Bryan Singer drugged, raped, provided drugs and alcohol as well as threatened and told false promises of appearing in movies to then 17-year-old Michael Egan, who it’s said Singer took to Hawaii for sex in 1999 as well.
TMZ was on hand to record the recent press conference with Michael Egan, where Egan stated he did complain to the LAPD, but no action was taken: “It fell on deaf ears.”
Egan says, in the video, about why he chose to come out with it now is that he had been suffering a long time dealing with the pain. He says he had an alcohol problem to help deal with it and 11 months ago stepped into his first trauma therapy meeting. Egan then proceeds to recount his alleged encounters.
Bryan Singer’s lawyer previously released a statement denying the accusations.
“We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit,” said Martin Singer, Bryan Singer’s attorney. “It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan’ s new movie is about to open in a few weeks.”
With still no word of a second season for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an interesting remark is buried in Deadline‘s report about the “early buzz” surrounding the network’s upcoming upfront presentations.
While the report mentions Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may be renewed for a second season, and that the new Agent Carter series might come attached with it, it’s also stated that the Agent Carter series didn’t get a straight-to-series greenlight as expected: the “green light never came.”
That may mean a pilot would need to be filmed, and then the network would have to give the okay for a full season instead of going ahead with the pilot and the full season from the get-go.
It’s noted that ABC president Paul Lee said the script is great, with mention the script was finished three months ago as well.
It’s also stated that the option regarding having Hayley Atwell on board the Agent Carter series expired and has been extended.
The report goes on to mention that Agent Carter might serve as a bridge between the Fall and Spring portions of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It’s possible ABC might be taking a second look at the Agent Carter series especially considering the Marvel Studios movie tie-ins have had no impact on ratings for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The series saw its lowest ratings to date following the much publicized connection to Captain America 2.
Likewise, a special guest appearance by Jaimie Alexander as Sif from the Thor movies had no impact on ratings.
The reason for the poor ratings for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be a few things, with fans mentioning poorly written early episodes, no superheroes or super villains (at least in the first half of the season), expectations not met and episodes airing erratically with at times a month or weeks between episodes.
The creators of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. have since told fans to campaign for the show to ABC if they want a second season.
The most recent episode of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., which tied into Captain America 2, saw 5.37 million viewers tune in, which was actually less than first estimated.
This week’s episode looks to be a key factor as it airs at 9pm ET with ABC replaying last week’s as both tie into Captain America 2. It’s possible audiences didn’t want to spoil themselves by watching the two out of order if they haven’t yet seen Captain America 2.
Marvel is kicking off promotion for The Avengers 2 more than a year prior to its release as set for ABC next month is a special sneak peek of the movie.
ABC will air Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe, a one-hour special that goes behind the scenes of the comic-media empire.
Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe featuring the new footage premieres Tuesday, March 18 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
“The Avengers: Age Of Ultron” hits May 1, 2015 directed by Joss Whedon starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo with James Spader as Ultron.
