SyFy Passes on Battlestar: Galactica: Blood and Chrome For TV Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1000:]]Despite the positive reception the Battlestar: Galactica: Blood and Chrome trailer – unofficially released – received among fans as it hit late last night, SyFy has released a statement that they are passing on the BSG prequel for a TV series.

Even though a two hour pilot was green lit and is in production, SyFy president Mark Stern says they will be looking to put the project out in a digital series, as was mentioned at last year’s San Diego Comic Con. However, the pilot will at some point be aired on the network as a movie.

“Though the vision for ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned,” Stern said in a statement. “We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date.”

Apparently what happened with the trailer, was that a science adviser on BSG: B&C showed it off at the recent WonderCon. As we noted, the trailer features a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song,” which turns out to be Trent Reznor and Karen O’s cover for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Red Band trailer. The B&C trailer wasn’t supposed to go public — it was just a demo, but “somehow” it found its way on to the net. NBC Universal has since taken down the videos from YouTube and other file sharing sites. 

According to Deadline, Universal Cable Prods, which produces Blood & Chrome, may still shop the project to other networks.
