[[wysiwyg_imageupload:332:]]A couple days ago it was announced that the West Wing‘s Richard Schiff was cast as Dr. Hamilton in the new Superman reboot, Man of Steel.
Now, Schiff has come out and provided a few details about the role while speaking with IAmRogue.
First off, Schiff was offered the role in the Summer. However, before accepting he wanted to read the script first, so he went to the offices and read it under “lock and key.” Suffice to say, he was happy with it.
“So I had to go to their offices on Sunset Boulevard. Virtually under guard I sat down in an office and read a script that had my name ear marked all over it, in case I ripped a page out and released it I guess, or sold it to you for half a million bucks. I thought it was pretty funny.”
Schiff says that he has already started shooting and worked with Christopher Meloni, who plays Colonel Hardy, and Amy Adams, of course playing Lois Lane.
“So I’ve gotten my feet wet and have worked with Amy Adams, Chris Meloni and a few others.”
He has also worked with Superman Henry Cavill, but can’t say much when asked.
“Yes, and that is all I can say.”
The actor also reveals that he is indeed playing, Emil Hamilton, but again is sworn to secrecy.
“They obviously have the same first and last name, so they can draw their own conclusions. I want to live up to the promise to not reveal anything I’m not allowed to reveal.”
The character of Emil Hamilton in the comics and other forms of media has at times been both a friend and foe to Superman. Which is it this time? Of course, Schiff can’t answer, but does offer up hints that his character plays a scientist and might be a part of STAR Labs when asked.
“Yeah, that I think they don’t want me to say but he’s obviously a scientist and he enjoys his work, let’s put it that way.”
Head on over to the full interview, via the link above, with more from Richard Schiff on Dr. Hamilton.
