Suicide Squad Rumors From Test Group Land Online

A batch of Suicide Squad rumors from a reported test group have landed online.

A user on Reddit is claiming to have been a part of a recent Warner Bros. focus test group for the Suicide Squad movie.

The user states they spent an hour at Warner Bros. with a few other people. It’s noted some of the stuff they were shown was still a work in progress, while some of the other stuff is said to be set in stone.

According to the user, WB first quizzed the participants on their knowledge of the Suicide Squad, with a lot of questions on the New 52 version and Harley Quinn.

The user thinks from the general conversations that took place that Harley Quinn could be the main character in the movie.

The user stated director David Ayer joined the focus group and asked if they had watched Speed. Ayer said that the plot of Speed – a blend of action with a time sensitive conflict – is what inspired the plot of the Suicide Squad movie.

Ayer is said to have asked what they enjoyed more: A serious action movie like The Raid? Or a more comedic action approach like the Jump Street movies?

Toward the end of the focus group, the participants were broken into groups of three and given a one page summary of the plot, and they were asked to describe what they liked and didn’t like.

Details they were given included Harley Quinn being needed to decipher a complex series of bombs planted throughout Gotham. It’s said Harley Quinn is estranged from The Joker, and her knowledge is being used to figure out where The Joker has placed the bombs.

Deathstroke is Amanda Waller’s personal bodyguard, and he is placed in the Squad to oversee that they do not deviant from the mission. 

It’s then said the plot becomes more complex as The Joker has a far more complex goal in mind.

The user also states they were given other plot ideas which ranged from Harley Quinn being a part of the Suicide Squad and betraying them for The Joker to another involving a conspiracy with Lex Luthor working with The Joker.

The user states his impressions are positive, and that before they left, Ayer showed off some concept art, which the user describes as “some were ok.” In his opinion, Boomerang and Enchantress didn’t look that great. He also offered that he really liked the design of Deathstroke, and that they gave Deathstroke a “realistic, but tech-geared look,” and that it’s probably the best design for Deathstroke he’s ever seen.

The user finishes his write-up with: “Based on what I saw, I would love to go see this movie when it releases.”

“Suicide Squad” has an August 6, 2015 release.
