Star Wars: Starfighter Leak Reveals Ryan Gosling’s Cade And Eva Mendes’ Wild Role

Star Wars: Starfighter Leak Reveals Ryan Gosling’s Cade And Eva Mendes’ Wild Role

A fresh batch of Star Wars: Starfighter leaks hit X this week, and this time the source is MakingStarWars, one of the more established Star Wars scoopers with a track record on past Disney-era productions.

The drop lands roughly a year out from release and hands over character names, a brand-new Jedi planet, a lightsaber duel, and an eyebrow-raising role for Ryan Gosling’s real-life wife.

It also overlaps with the leak we broke down last month, though not on every point.

As always, treat this as rumor. Lucasfilm has not confirmed any of the plot details below.

Ryan Gosling Is “Cade,” Flynn Gray Is “Rone” or “Ronin”

According to MakingStarWars, Ryan Gosling plays a character named Cade, described as a rogue, pirate, Han Solo-style protagonist.

His young co-star Flynn Gray reportedly plays a character with a name that sounds like Rone or Ronin. The leaker also claims Gray uses an American accent for the role, which tracks, since the 14-year-old is Irish.

MakingStarWars adds that the chemistry between Gosling and Gray is supposedly very strong. That lines up with what director Shawn Levy has said publicly about Gray growing into the role opposite a rotating cast of heavy hitters.

Worth flagging for anyone who read our earlier coverage: a separate leaker previously gave Gosling’s character the code name “Damon.” Since that report specifically called it a code name, “Cade” being the actual character name is not necessarily a contradiction.

The Hidden Jedi Planet Called Adaria

The most substantial new detail is a planet called Adaria, which MakingStarWars describes as a Jedi refuge.

He paints it as green and lush, East Asian-inspired, and full of greenery and fountains, with tiki-style huts across the set. He also spotted large mechanical struts, possibly landing gear, which hints at ships parked at the sanctuary.

In the leak, Cade escorts the child to a Jedi refuge or academy on Adaria. The Jedi seen there looked like Padawans to the source, dressed in beige Jedi-style tunics similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi and young Anakin at the end of The Phantom Menace.

A hidden Jedi world in a post-Skywalker galaxy is a notable swing. It suggests Starfighter is not treating the Jedi as fully extinct after Exegol, which is the kind of world-building fans have been asking for since the sequel trilogy wrapped.

Mia Goth And Aaron Pierre’s Lightsaber Duel Lines Up With A Confirmed Scene

MakingStarWars claims Mia Goth and Aaron Pierre have a lightsaber fight on Adaria, and that Pierre’s character is connected to the Jedi sanctuary there.

This is the detail that gives the whole leak credibility.

Production reporting already confirmed that a lightsaber duel was filmed in a muddy pond back in November, and that Tom Cruise, who was visiting the set, was invited by Levy to shoot part of that scene. A muddy, green, fountain-filled Jedi planet matches that confirmed location almost exactly.

Goth is also confirmed to be playing a villain opposite Gosling, so a Goth-versus-Jedi duel on Adaria fits both the leak and the official casting.

Eva Mendes Reportedly Plays A 650-Year-Old Cantina Owner Named Belle

MakingStarWars says Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling’s wife, plays a fully glammed-out cantina owner named Belle.

The character is reportedly not human. She is said to be 650 years old and dressed in gold skintight pants and a corset with a golden cape. The leaker notes that Bespin Bulletin heard about this casting a while ago but chose not to report it.

A few sourcing notes are important here.

Mendes was never included in Lucasfilm’s official cast announcement, so her involvement in Starfighter remains unconfirmed entirely. On top of that, a different insider claimed back in 2025 that Mendes would play Gosling’s on-screen wife in a small role, which does not match this cantina-owner description.

That said, our earlier leak had Gosling’s character living as a washed-up pilot inside a cantina, so a cantina owner tied to his hangout at least fits the story shape that has been circulating.

Cade’s Necklace And The Original Backstory

MakingStarWars also mentions that Cade wears a necklace that appears to be important in some way, which sounds like a potential plot device.

According to the source, an earlier version of the script had Cade as the best friend of the father of Gray’s character, tasked with taking the boy to a Jedi planet, with Amy Adams playing the boy’s mother. Some of that reportedly stuck into the final script.

Earlier trade reporting and the previous leak both had Amy Adams as the boy’s mother and Gosling as the boy’s uncle. So the “best friend of the father” version looks like an earlier draft that shifted to a family relationship as the script tightened.

The Mandalorian And Grogu Opens Below Solo In Lowest Star Wars Debut Ever

Starfighter Is Shaping Up As Comfort-Food Star Wars

Put all of it together and the template is clear. A reluctant rogue, a Force-sensitive child, a hidden Jedi sanctuary, and a lightsaber mercenary on the hunt.

It reads like A New Hope by way of Logan and True Grit, which is exactly the classic setup we flagged the first time around.

That cuts both ways.

For fans burned by the sequel trilogy and the Disney+ era, a back-to-basics adventure is reassuring. Levy has said his biggest inspiration was Return of the Jedi, not The Empire Strikes Back, and this leak fits that instinct.

The risk is that “new direction” and “back to basics” are promises Star Wars has made and broken before. After The Mandalorian & Grogu underwhelmed at the box office, Lucasfilm needs Starfighter to feel like a real theatrical event rather than another streaming spinoff in a bigger frame.

The leaks sound promising on paper. Execution is everything, and the audience will settle it at the box office on opening weekend.

Confirmed Star Wars: Starfighter Details

Lucasfilm has confirmed that Star Wars: Starfighter is directed by Shawn Levy and written by Jonathan Tropper, with Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda (Top Gun: Maverick) shooting the film.

The confirmed cast includes Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams. Eva Mendes has never appeared in an official cast list.

Lucasfilm describes the film as an all-new standalone adventure set in a period never before explored, taking place roughly five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the Battle of Exegol. Levy has said he reworked the third act late in development and considers Return of the Jedi his biggest inspiration.

The movie wrapped filming in December 2025 after shooting in the Mediterranean and is now in post-production. Star Wars: Starfighter hits theaters and IMAX on May 28, 2027.
