Electronic Arts has announced the sequel to the Star Wars Battlefront video game will be released in 2017.
EA also announced it intends to release a new Star Wars video game every year starting in 2017 for at least three to four years following.
PC Gamer reports EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed the Star Wars video game news at an earnings conference call.
“Next year we’ll see Star Wars Battlefront back with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off [and] not just the historical movies that we used before,” Jorgensen said.
Other Star Wars video games said to be in development include a game from Visceral resembling the defunct Star Wars 1313 project, described as similar to Uncharted as a third-person action game.
Respawn, creator of TitanFall, is also developing a new third-person Star Wars game.
The new Star Wars movies mentioned above that will be used for the basis of upcoming games include this year’s Star Wars: Rogue One, next year’s Star Wars: Episode VIII, the Han Solo movie and Star Wars: Episode IX.
