You can’t have Star Wars without Star Trek, can ya?

That debate is always a hot topic among fans and now with the news that more Star Wars movies are on the way it looks only to get even hotter.

Star Trek saw a resurgence in 2009 with J.J. Abrams reboot of the same name, with the sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness set for 2013 as well. Of course, two years later Star Wars Episode 7 will be released followed by two more in 2017 and 2019, and with Star Trek Into Darkness most likely not being the last of that series, there will be plenty of time to debate which is better.

While we ponder that, Star Trek creator’s J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof react to the news that Disney is purchasing and putting forth new Star Wars movies.

Of course, we may never know if Abrams and Lindelof already knew, but their reactions are still fun.

And regarding Lindelof, it seems he’s the leading fan-favorite choice to pen the upcoming Star Wars movie.

“Part of me? Thrilled. Part of me? Terrified. Most of me? Thrillified,” Abrams told EW.

Lindelof had a bit more to say on the topic to EW as well as on his Twitter account.

“All I can say is my heart literally started racing when I heard,”  Lindelof said to EW.

And via Twitter:

The reason I didn’t tweet immediately is due to the heart attack I just had. Holy SHIT. #EpisodeVII

My twitter feed: 38% : “You should write the new Star Wars!” 47% : “Don’t f—ing touch the new Star Wars!” 15% : Undecided.
