A small bit of casting news for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness has made its way online with mention that Heather Langenkamp has a role.

While it’s really not such a huge role, what’s kinda cool is that Heather Langenkamp played the original Nancy from the Nightmare On Elm Street movies.

“Well, I had the opportunity to play a small part in Star Trek, so I’m looking forward to that. I can’t tell you anything about that, but that was a thrill for me,” Langenhkamp told HorrorNews.net (via Latino Review). “My husband and I worked on the makeup effects for Star Trek. He designed some of them, so that’s the thing we’re looking forward to most. Hopefully we’ll be working on something else in January. We don’t know what that will be yet, but hopefully it’ll be a really fun job.”

Speaking of her husband, David LeRoy Anderson, he happens to be a prominent make-up effects artist having also worked on Men In Black, Dawn of the Dead, Mission Impossible as well as the Joss Whedon-directed Cabin In The Woods.

Star Trek Into Darkness has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Benedict Cumberbatch as an unnamed villain.
