[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1597:]]A few days ago, Karl Urban, aka Bones, let it be known that Benedict Cumberbatch’s character in the Star Trek sequel was not Khan.
Spoilers!
He said it was friend of Captain Kirk turned omnipotent being Gary Mitchell!
However, most of us seemed to play it off thinking it another of director J.J. Abrams’ tricks.
Turns out that not be the case, and that Urban might have been telling the truth.
Speaking to ComingSoon, Karl Urban said in regards to spilling the beans about Gary Mitchell, “I’m really not at liberty to discuss anything about Star Trek. All I can say is that I did that interview after a 22-hour flight from New Zealand. I literally hopped off the plane into the interview.”
While we still don’t know if that is true, what we can bank on is that Urban also said the first footage from Star Trek 2 will be released this week on YouTube.
“I can promise you that before the end of Comic-Con, some exclusive Star Trek footage, it’s going to come out. You’re going to find it. It’s going to come out.”
The as-of-yet unnamed Star Trek sequel has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Benedict Cumberbatch as an unnamed villain.
