[[wysiwyg_imageupload:509:]]January 25, 2012—Comic legend Stan Lee’s highly anticipated large coffee graphic novel book ROMEO AND JULIET: THE WAR hits all major bookstores nationwide and starting today. The novel, a ground-breaking giant book was originally unveiled late last year at the New York Comic Con convention is the brainchild of Lee, Paris Kasidokostas Latsis and Terry Dougas, founders of 1821 Comics and Lee’s producing partner Gill champion, President and COO of POW! Entertainment.
ROMEO AND JULIET: THE WAR is a futuristic and stylized retelling of William Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet tale. The project has garnered a tremendous amount of acclaim from comic book fans and Stan Lee enthusiasts. To build even more momentum following the NY Comic Con unveiling, the creators released a tentpole-style trailer for ROMEO AND JULIET: THE WAR which can be seen at the 1821 Comics YouTube Channel:
ROMEO AND JULIET: THE WAR story takes Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers and places them in the futuristic sci-fi/fantasy Empire of Verona, the most powerful territory on Earth. The MONTAGUES, powerful cyborgs made of artificial DNA, and the CAPULETS, genetically enhanced humans known for their speed and agility, worked in tandem to destroy all threats to the city. With no one left to fight, the Montagues and Capulets found themselves a new enemy: each other.
ROMEO AND JULIET: THE WAR is printed as a beautiful large coffee table book with the story re-imagined by Stan Lee and Terry Dougas, written by Max Work and artwork by Skan Srisuwan.
The book is available as a hard cover collector’s edition and soft cover. To promote the release, Lee will be participating in a special autograph signing session in Los Angeles which will be announced next week.
