Hundreds of Spider-Men are about to take over New York Comic Con.
Jazwares and Disney Consumer Products are hosting an official Guinness World Records attempt for the largest gathering of people dressed as Spider-Man on October 8, the opening day of NYCC 2026 at the Javits Center.
The record to beat is 685 participants, and a Guinness World Records adjudicator will be on-site to make the count official.
Jazwares is also handing out free Spider-Man costumes in adult and kids’ sizes, one per person while supplies last, plus commemorative enamel pins for everyone taking part.

Free Costumes At 1 PM, Record Attempt At 8 PM
The event is open to NYCC attendees with a Thursday or 4-Day badge, and fans can register in advance.
Costume pickup starts at 1:00 PM ET at the Jazwares fan zone booth in the Javits Center Inner Roadway.
Participants line up at 6:30 PM in the Main Stage Queue Hall, and the record attempt itself happens around 8:00 PM at the NYCC Main Stage.
Fans can wear their own suits as long as they follow the official Guinness guidelines: a complete classic Spider-Man look, meaning the red mask, the boots, and the red-and-blue suit with webbing and the spider emblem.
Alternate suits from official comics or movies are allowed, but other characters from the Spider-Man universe won’t count toward the record.
“Spider-Man has always been about the power of everyday people stepping up to do something extraordinary. It’s why I’m thrilled to host this moment and lead the fan community in making pop-culture history live at NYCC,” said Jeremy Padawer, President of Jazwares.
“As an official costume partner for Marvel, this is our way of bringing that spirit to life for fans in a way only Jazwares can do,” Padawer continued. “We’re inviting Spider-Man fans to show up, suit up, and help us make history.”
Fans can head on over to register at the guinnessworldrecords.com website to participate.

Follows Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s $2.4 Billion
The record attempt comes on the heels of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The Tom Holland movie opened July 31 to $360 million and now sits at $924.9 million domestic and $2.4 billion worldwide, via Box Office Mojo.
Brand New Day is the third-highest-grossing movie of all time, behind only Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.
It also passed Spider-Man: No Way Home as Sony’s biggest release ever, and it was the second-fastest movie to reach $2 billion, behind only Endgame.
NYCC 2026 runs October 8-11 at the Javits Center, marking the convention’s 20th anniversary. Cosmic Book News will be at the show, so stay tuned for coverage.
