UPDATE (September 29, 2026): Kelvin Yu’s script is the one nearing an order: Amazon is closing in on a Spider-Man Clone Saga series with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker.
Amazon isn’t done with Spider-Man TV.
One week after Prime Video canceled Spider-Noir, Sony Pictures Television and Prime Video are reportedly considering four different Spider-Man universe scripts, per a new report from The Ankler’s Lesley Goldberg, and Prime could end up ordering one, possibly two.
Loglines are under wraps, and reps for Amazon and Sony TV declined to comment.

The Four Writers
Kelvin Yu, creator of Disney+’s American Born Chinese.
Alison Tatlock, an Emmy-nominated Better Call Saul writer now on Vince Gilligan’s Pluribus.
Ben H. Winters, whose TV credits include Tracker and Legion.
And the team of Ben Nedivi & Matt Wolpert (For All Mankind, The Umbrella Academy) with Megan McDonnell, who wrote on WandaVision and Agatha All Along and penned The Marvels.

Canceled Over Cost, Then Five Emmys
Per the report’s sources, Spider-Noir ultimately came down to its price tag.
Days after the cancellation, the show won five Creative Arts Emmys. A lit agent who attended told The Ankler the show’s winning streak “became a joke in the room.”
The Nicolas Cage series drew strong reviews but didn’t hold audiences the way cheaper Prime originals like Reacher do.
The same agent said the appetite for superhero TV is still there when the shows are done right, but the budgets are the problem.
As we covered, Amazon pulled the plug on September 4 despite 11 Emmy nominations and solid streaming numbers. Deadline reported then that the Amazon–Sony deal continues, with one project near a series order, and this new report puts the field at four scripts.
Spider-Noir was the first series to make it to air from Sony TV’s corner of the Marvel universe, a plan going back to 2019 under Into the Spider-Verse‘s Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The first show out of the deal, Silk: Spider Society, was scrapped in 2024 after more than two years in development under The Walking Dead‘s Angela Kang.
The move mirrors Marvel reversing course on Wonder Man Season 2 even as that show earned star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II an Emmy nomination. Marvel’s own live-action slate at Disney+ is down to the WandaVision spinoff VisionQuest, out October 14, and Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 in March.
One or two of these four scripts becomes the next Spider-Man show. Which one gets the order is the next announcement to watch.
Also from the report: Lanterns Season 2 is nowhere near a greenlight.
