UPDATE: Sony’s marketing has now moved into its home stretch with the final trailer, which teases a villain no one can see, arriving online ten days before the July 31 opening.
Sony is saving some of its best Spider-Man: Brand New Day footage for overseas. A new promo spot airing in international markets delivers the best look yet at the Savage Hulk, and stills from the spot show the Green Goliath in full rampage mode three weeks out from release.
The images started making the rounds on X Friday morning, and they confirm what the marketing has been building toward all along. This version of the Hulk is a monster, not a professor.

Spider-Man and Punisher vs. The Hulk
The international spot includes a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of Frank Castle opening fire on the Hulk as the beast leaps past Spider-Man. It marks the first time the team-up has been shown in actual footage instead of concept art and posters.
Peter gets a new toy for the fight, too. The spot offers a proper look at Spider-Man taking the fight to the Hulk while wearing a modified Shocker gauntlet, with the brawl tearing through the gutted remains of a building.
The sequence is a big moment for Jon Bernthal, who makes his big-screen MCU debut as the Punisher after carrying the character on television for years.
Official materials have framed Castle’s involvement as collateral, with his own mission colliding with the Spider-Man and Hulk battle rather than Frank hunting either of them.
Tom Holland has already teased this is not a one-off pairing, telling Collider he “wouldn’t be surprised if Spidey and the Punisher become a recurring duo.”
The Savage Hulk Is Back
The new stills make one thing clear. This is not the Smart Hulk who has been hanging around the MCU since Avengers: Endgame. The hunched posture, the torn pants, and the feral snarl all point back to the monster of the early MCU, matching the pages from the movie’s leaked art book that fans immediately compared to the 2008 Incredible Hulk design.
Those same art book pages settled the gray Hulk debate. The desaturated look seen in leaked materials was only a test, and the Hulk stays green in the finished film.
As for what pushes Banner over the edge, the marketing keeps pointing to an outside trigger. An earlier spot showed Bruce enraged in his Smart Hulk form right before the rampage, and the prevailing read is that Sadie Sink’s still-unrevealed character unleashes the Savage Hulk and may even be steering him. The Jean Grey rumor refuses to die, though Marvel and Sony have confirmed nothing about who Sink is playing.
The Fight That Is Selling the Movie
There is a reason the campaign keeps hammering this brawl. Spider-Man versus the Hulk has never happened on the big screen, and it is exactly the kind of comic-panel spectacle the core audience has been asking for while Hollywood spent years chasing everybody else.
The numbers say it is working. Brand New Day is tracking toward a $180 million-plus opening weekend, the biggest of 2026, and survey data has the film sitting at the highest awareness and interest of any movie this summer. All of that momentum comes with the film locked out of IMAX by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which makes the tracking even more impressive.
