UPDATE: Encore‘s odds just got interesting. The re-release trailer did 77 million views in 24 hours, per Deadline, quadrupling the category record.
It’s done. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the second highest-grossing movie in domestic box office history.
Sony and Marvel Studios’ blockbuster added $3.4 million on its fourth Monday to reach $858.4 million in North America, clearing Avengers: Endgame‘s $858.3 million lifetime total.
Only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its $936.6 million sit above it now.
Endgame needed its full 2019 run plus a re-release to post that number. Brand New Day passed it on day 25.
Tom Holland is now in three of the four biggest domestic releases ever: Brand New Day at No. 2, Endgame at No. 3, and Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $814.8 million at No. 4.
That said, September sees the Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release, so we might not be done just yet. More on that below.

Every Endgame Record, One At A Time
The lifetime total was the last one standing.
Brand New Day took the Thursday preview record first at $72 million against Endgame‘s $60 million, then opening day at $168 million against $156.7 million, then the biggest opening weekend in history at $360 million, ending a seven-year reign.
Then came the pace records: biggest Monday ever at $47 million, fastest to $500 million in seven days, fastest to $700 million in 13, and fastest to $800 million in a record 19 days.
Now the finish line moves too.
What Endgame still owns is the global side: $2.79 billion worldwide, and the speed records to $1 billion and $2 billion, both of which Brand New Day came second on. Its own $2.22 billion is sixth all-time.

$900 Million Is $41.6 Million Away
The next number on the board has only ever been reached once.
The Force Awakens is the only movie to gross $900 million in North America, and it needed 50 days. Brand New Day is 25 days in and $41.6 million short, which puts it in range over Labor Day weekend.
The all-time record is $78.2 million out.
Deadline has Brand New Day holding No. 1 again this weekend with $18 million in its fifth frame, which would be five straight weekends on top and the entire month of August.

Endgame Encore Gets Its Shot September 25
Disney has one move left here, and it goes into theaters September 25.
Avengers: Endgame Encore puts the Russo Brothers movie back on screens for the first time since 2019, and tickets went on sale today, with an exclusive Avengers: Doomsday look on every screen and a second sneak peek reserved for premium formats.
Any re-release gross gets added to Endgame‘s lifetime total, so the No. 2 spot is technically live until it plays out.
The math is the problem: Brand New Day should be at or past $900 million by the time Encore opens, which means the re-release would need a number no re-release has posted to take the spot back.
Encore‘s job was always the Doomsday footage. It just picked up a second one.

The Fifth Weekend Field
The challenger is a movie Warner Bros. threw away. Ketchup Entertainment’s rescued Coyote vs. Acme is tracking around $15 million, but Deadline says that number is still hard to pin down. The film has already made $400,000 from sneak previews, and advance sales are strong, but it’s unclear whether the online enthusiasm extends beyond New York and Los Angeles. We go over the tracking here.
Insidious: Out of the Further should drop about 60 percent, matching The Red Door‘s second frame, for roughly $10 million after its $25.3 million start.
Also opening: 20th Century Studios’ The Dog Stars, Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic movie with Jacob Elordi, and Roadside Attractions’ Sundance pickup Buddy.
Behind all of it, the 2026 domestic box office is past $7 billion, running more than 20 percent ahead of last year.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is playing in theaters now, including IMAX. Follow every record at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day hub, and see how it got here in the fourth-weekend breakdown.
