UPDATE: The pending numbers landed, and every one is a record: previews finished at a revised $72 million, and opening day is now headed for $167 million-plus, the biggest in box office history. CBN’s review is in as well: 9/10, with Holland delivering his best Spidey movie yet.
The opening-night audience has filed its grade: Spider-Man: Brand New Day earns an A on CinemaScore.
CinemaScore is the exit-polling firm that surveys actual ticket buyers as they leave opening-night showings, grading movies from A+ to F. Unlike online scores, nobody self-selects into it: these are regular moviegoers polled at the theater door, and the grade is Hollywood’s oldest predictor of word of mouth.
The Grade In Context
An A puts Brand New Day right on the Holland trilogy’s line: Homecoming and Far From Home both earned an A, while No Way Home landed the rare A+.
To be straight about it, this is one notch below No Way Home. It’s also where nearly every MCU hit in history has landed, and the A+ club is a short list topped by Endgame, Black Panther, and No Way Home itself, all cultural events beyond the movies they were.
An A on a record preview night means the general audience, not just the faithful who bought tickets in June, walked out happy.

Every Meter Is Green
The full scoreboard now reads: 90% Certified Fresh with critics, 98% with verified Rotten Tomatoes audiences, tying the MCU record, an A from CinemaScore’s exit polls, and per Forbes, an 8.2 on IMDb, the best of the Holland era, above even No Way Home‘s 8.1.
Four different measurement systems, four different audiences, one verdict.
What It Means For The Weekend
Exit grades matter because they predict legs. A-grade word of mouth landing on top of a $50 million-plus preview night that bested No Way Home is exactly the combination that turns a big Friday into a monster Sunday.
The official preview figure is still pending as of this writing, with exhibitors seeing the opening land between $260 million and possibly $300 million. The weekend verdict comes Sunday.
The fatigued audience got polled at the theater door. It said A.
