UPDATE 2: The pace held all the way up. Brand New Day is now the fastest movie ever to $800 million domestic, crossing in a record 19 days, and it cleared $2 billion worldwide in 17 days as the eighth movie ever and the second-fastest behind Endgame. It sits fourth all-time domestically with No Way Home next.
UPDATE: The Sunday numbers came in even bigger. Sony revised the second weekend up to $145 million, still the third-best ever, with the 10-day record locked at $655 million, and the global total has exploded to $1.67 billion as Brand New Day becomes the second-fastest movie ever to $1 billion international.
The second-weekend record watch has its verdict, and even in “defeat,” Spidey walked away with a bigger prize.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is heading for a $143 million second weekend per Saturday estimates from Deadline and THR, a 60 percent ease that lands as the third-best sophomore frame in domestic box office history, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $149.2 million and Avengers: Endgame at $147.3 million.
The bigger record is the one nobody can touch: by Sunday, the running cume hits an estimated $653 million, the best 10-day start in domestic box office history, obliterating Endgame‘s $621.2 million.
That’s another Endgame benchmark gone, joining the opening weekend crown and the fastest half-billion on the pile.
As of Saturday morning, the overall tally per Box Office Mojo sits at $1.259 billion worldwide, split $553 million domestic and $706.3 million international, with the rest of the weekend still to be added on both sides.
The rare-air context: only eight movies have ever cleared $100 million in a second weekend, five of them Marvel titles, and this is the first Sony release to do it.
The previous Sony best was Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $84.5 million, which didn’t even reach the club’s front door.

IMAX’s First Weekend Is Doing Exactly What It Should
Premium large format screens, including the IMAX auditoriums Spidey just added Thursday, are driving 33 percent of the weekend gross.
Friday alone brought in $43 million.
One more overdue formality along the way: the domestic cume has now blown past Toy Story 5‘s $470.4 million, making Brand New Day 2026’s number one movie domestically as well as worldwide, where it took the crown on Tuesday.

The Odyssey Joins The Billion Club Too
The other half of the IMAX co-share is celebrating its own milestone, both also starring Tom Holland and Zendaya.
The Odyssey crossed $1 billion worldwide on Thursday, becoming Christopher Nolan’s third billion-dollar movie after The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, and it will soon pass the latter to become the biggest film of Nolan’s career.
The epic holds second place in its fourth weekend with $30.5 million and a $460.1 million domestic total, continuing the record-setting run that refuses to slow down.
Between the two of them, Spidey and Odysseus are delivering the third-best overall box office weekend of the year at more than $204 million.

The Competition Got Flattened
No surprise, every other movie out got crushed.
Universal’s rom-com One Night Only opened to $6 million with a B+ CinemaScore, matching Anyone But You‘s start but without the year-end runway that turned that one into a sleeper.
Super Troopers 3 came in under $4 million with a B-, well off its predecessor’s $15.1 million launch, and Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man melted to around $2 million.
The lesson is the same one this whole run has taught: the audience shows up in force for the movies that feel like events, and everything else is fighting for the leftovers.
Next up: weekend actuals Monday, the march toward $2 billion worldwide, and China and Japan still building. Follow it all at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day hub and our Odyssey guide.
