Spider-Man: Brand New Day Debuts With 98% Audience Score, Tying MCU Record

UPDATE: The exit polls agree. Brand New Day earns an A on CinemaScore from opening-night ticket buyers, joining an 8.2 on IMDb that ranks as the best of the Holland era. Full breakdown at the link.

The critics had their say. Now the audience is talking, and the number is even bigger.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has debuted with a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, carrying the Verified Hot badge with more than 1,000 verified ratings from the Prime early screenings and Thursday previews.

The Records

98% ties the highest audience score in MCU history, matching Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and lands one point above Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s 97%, making it the best-rated Spider-Man movie ever with audiences.

The Holland trilogy arc tells the story too: Homecoming finished at 87% with audiences, Far From Home at 95%, No Way Home at 97%, and now Brand New Day opens at 98%.

The Rare Double

Pair it with the 90% Certified Fresh critics score, now standing at 230 reviews, and Brand New Day has the combination studios chase and rarely catch: above 90% with both critics and verified audiences at the same time.

One honest caveat: these are opening-night numbers from the most eager crowds, the Prime screenings and previews, so the score can drift as the wide audience lands this weekend. But even the drift range on a 98 is elite territory.

Audiences Grade Movies, Not Genres

As we wrote this week, fatigue doesn’t check Rotten Tomatoes before deciding whether to exist. Audiences do.

The audience just checked, and one verified rating summed up the mood, calling it “hands down the most Spider-Man movie ever.”

The scoreboard so far this week: the reactions delivered, the reviews delivered, China delivered, and now the verified audience delivered. The box office finishes the sweep this weekend, with preview numbers landing Friday morning.
