South Park Is Now ‘South America’: Season 29 Premieres September 16

UPDATE 4: Beavis and Butt-Head returns October 14, airing right after that night’s new episode.

UPDATE 3: The renamed show’s next target: billionaire data centers.

UPDATE 2: The rebrand is now the case that Paramount Warner Bros. won’t be Trump TV.

UPDATE: The South America premiere delivered 4.2 million viewers.

South Park has a new name.

Starting with the Season 29 premiere on September 16, the Comedy Central series will be known as South America.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced the change Tuesday in a press release, two days after the show won the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the creators said. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

South Park renames to South America

A Shot At Apple, Google, and Paramount

The Apple and Google line is about the Gulf of America.

President Trump signed an executive order in January 2025 renaming the Gulf of Mexico, and both companies changed their map apps to match.

Open Google Maps or Apple Maps in the U.S. today and the water south of Texas is labeled the Gulf of America.

So South Park pulled the same move on itself. The new key art shows the town sign with a green AMERICA street sign bolted over the word PARK.

The Paramount line cuts deeper. Since the Skydance merger closed last year, the studio’s official branding reads “Paramount, a Skydance Corporation.” The key art swaps one word: “Paramount — A Skydance Capitulation.”

A capitulation is a surrender.

Parker and Stone have been hammering Paramount since last summer.

The Season 27 premiere, “Sermon on the ‘Mount,” aired days after Paramount paid Trump $16 million to settle his 60 Minutes lawsuit and CBS canceled Stephen Colbert. In the episode, Trump sues the town of South Park, and the town settles.

That’s the episode that just won the Emmy.

The best part: Parker and Stone signed a five-year, $1.5 billion streaming deal with Paramount+ the day before it aired. They cash Paramount’s checks, torch the company on screen, and Paramount pays to promote it.

Paramount, of course, has moved on to bigger things.

David Ellison is trying to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, which would hand him DC, HBO and the rest. His newest show just called his company a capitulation in its official key art.

Fresh Off The Emmy Win

The name change caps a big week. South Park won its sixth Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 6, its first win in the category since 2013.

The show celebrated by posting a picture of its cartoon Trump holding the trophy with his pants down: “You finally got your Emmy.”

The series turns 30 next year. It debuted on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997, after Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny first showed up in the animated short “The Spirit of Christmas.”

South Park was the No. 1 show on cable in 2025 among adults 18-49. Season 27 delivered the show’s best 18-49 share in 27 years and its most watched season in six years.

Season 29 Premiere Date And Schedule

Season 29 — the first under the South America name — premieres Wednesday, September 16 at 10pm ET/PT on Comedy Central.

New episodes stream next day on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada and Australia, and roll out on Paramount+ around the world.

The season airs every other week. New episodes premiere September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11 and November 25.
