UPDATE: Marvel filled another X-Men slot. Asa Germann is playing Angel, leaving Iceman as the last open spot from the original five.
Three actors got floated for Marvel roles in a single day: Noah Schnapp, Wagner Moura, and Malachi Barton.
All three come from scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X, posted the same day the account reported a new Avengers: Doomsday test screening scored higher than Endgame.
“Noah Schnapp is reportedly being eyed for a major MCU role,” posted the account, citing the Fauxmoi gossip forum.
“Wagner Moura is still up for a big role in the MCU. Who do you want him to play?” reads a second post.
“Malachi Barton is being eyed for a big role in the MCU,” a third post adds. “Who would you like him to play?”
No roles or projects were named for any of the three.
Fans Want Noah Schnapp As Iceman
Schnapp, 21, played Will Byers across all five seasons of Stranger Things, which wrapped its run on New Year’s Eve.
His name first hit the Marvel rumor mill back in July with the same Fauxmoi claim, and fans immediately went to Bobby Drake, aka Iceman.
His Hawkins co-star Sadie Sink already made the jump, surfacing as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Wagner Moura Was The Mister Sinister Pick First
Moura, 50, is the veteran here: Pablo Escobar on Narcos, Alex Garland’s Civil War, and a Cannes Best Actor win plus an Oscar nomination for The Secret Agent.
In July, the same account called him Marvel’s top choice to play Mister Sinister in the X-Men reboot.
That part went to Adam Driver at D23. Moura said just last month that Marvel never contacted him about it, adding, “I would love it.”
An earlier report also had him circling Sebastian Shaw. “Still up for a big role” reads like his name hasn’t left the board.
From Jenna Ortega’s TV Brother To Franchise Lead
Barton, 19, has been a Disney fixture for a decade.
He broke out as Beast Diaz on Stuck in the Middle, the Disney Channel series that also launched Jenna Ortega, playing her on-screen little brother.
He’s already played a superhero, too. On The Villains of Valley View, Barton starred as Colby, a shapeshifting teen with powers.
He headlined the two Under Wraps movies, joined the Zombies franchise as Victor in last year’s Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, and appeared in this summer’s Camp Rock 3.
The X-Men Timing Is Hard To Ignore
Two of the three names are under 22, which points in one direction: Marvel’s young-skewing future.
The X-Men reboot is dated for 2028 and is staffing up behind the camera, and the cast Marvel unveiled at D23 leans heavily into the next generation of mutants. A roster that size also keeps growing.
The script is drawing praise, too: a source who read it compares it to Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman.
Marvel has been quietly adding young actors across the board. Noah Jupe just joined Avengers: Secret Wars in a role Marvel won’t name, which fans think is the Beyonder or Franklin Richards.
Moura is the outlier, and his history with the project puts him on the villain side of the board.
For now, none of the three has a named part, and the account is letting fans do the casting.
Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars and the X-Men reboot. For the latest on Doomsday, see our full news and updates hub.
