UPDATE: Paramount-WBD is done: the PIF’s money is now in place at Skydance.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is weighing a plan to merge Electronic Arts with Savvy Games and create one of the biggest gaming companies in the world, Bloomberg reports.
The combined company would put Madden NFL, Battlefield, The Sims, and Pokémon Go under one roof.
Per Bloomberg’s sources, no final decisions have been made, and a deal likely waits until Savvy finishes its $6 billion purchase of Chinese mobile publisher Moonton.
Here’s how the pieces fit. The PIF led the record $55 billion buyout of EA last year, and that deal just closed.
Savvy is the fund’s own gaming company. The PIF gave it $38 billion to spend, and it used it to buy mobile publisher Scopely for $4.9 billion and Niantic’s games business — home of Pokémon Go — for about $3.5 billion.
A merger this size would also get a hard look from antitrust regulators, the government lawyers who decide whether a deal kills off too much competition.
Microsoft’s $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard fought through those reviews around the world before it closed.
There’s a leadership piece too. Savvy CEO Brian Ward left the company this month, and PIF deputy governor Turqi Alnowaiser took over as interim CEO.
Alnowaiser was the fund’s public face on the EA buyout, and Bloomberg says the PIF is tightening its grip on the companies it owns.
$10 Billion In Paramount, $55 Billion For EA
If the Public Investment Fund sounds familiar, it should.
The PIF is Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, the investment arm of the kingdom’s government, run under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, an avid gamer. The gaming push is part of Vision 2030, the kingdom’s plan to build an economy beyond oil.
It’s also the same fund with a $10 billion stake in the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery deal, as we reported back in June.
So the fund helping buy DC’s parent company is the same fund now building a gaming giant around EA.
“Major Entertainment Assets, Major Franchises”
On November 16, 2025, in our first report on the SnyderVerse return, our insider told us the Saudis were “in the driver’s seat with their trillion-dollar fund” for Warner Bros., and spelled out exactly what the kingdom wants: “major entertainment assets, major franchises, and massive theme-park IP.”
Watch the dates.
August 24, 2026: Qiddiya, the theme-park developer owned by the PIF, commits $7 billion to three theme parks outside Paris. Massive theme-park IP.
September 10, 2026: Bloomberg reports the PIF wants EA and Savvy merged into one of the biggest gaming companies on Earth. Madden, Battlefield, The Sims, and Pokémon Go, major franchises, under one Saudi roof.
Bloomberg also notes the point of the gaming merger: better coordination between the fund’s assets, and a single company for making acquisitions and exploiting IP across the $214 billion gaming industry.
One fund. One plan. Everything connected.
Paramount-WBD is next.

Where DC Fits In
The Bloomberg report is about video games. For DC fans, the pattern is the story.
Zack Snyder already works with the Saudis, he’s directing Brawler for Turki Alalshikh’s General Entertainment Authority.
And per our insiders, the Ellisons, Mike De Luca, and the Saudi investors are in ongoing talks about DC and “know they can’t take another reboot.”
The timeline that decides it is already set.
Paramount says the $111 billion Warner Bros. merger is ready to close and would have closed September 30 if not for the court order, with the next hearing on September 24.
Ten months ago, our insider listed what the kingdom wants: major entertainment assets, major franchises, massive theme-park IP.
The theme parks got $7 billion in August.
The franchises are being merged into a gaming giant today.
And the entertainment asset — Warner Bros. — is waiting on a courtroom.
