Sabrina Carpenter is being eyed for a Marvel role, it is claimed, though no character has been named, so fans are filling in the blanks with the usual suspects.
The rumor comes from scooper Daniel Richtman, who simply states via his Patreon, “Sabrina Carpenter is being eyed for a Marvel role.”
That’s it. No character, no project, no timeline. So treat it accordingly.
Emma Frost? Dazzler?
Fans immediately jumped to Emma Frost, but insider Jeff Sneider replied to a tweet about the rumor with a gif of Dazzler, which makes a lot more sense: In the comics, Alison Blaire is Marvel’s mutant pop star who converts sound into light, so casting an actual pop star in the role writes itself.
Dazzler rumors have made the rounds before, with Taylor Swift long attached via fan casting, and Carpenter’s name previously floated for the part back in 2025.
Regarding Emma Frost, recall that Sydney Sweeney has previously been rumored for Emma Frost in the MCU’s X-Men reboot, and similar to the Carpenter talk, that could simply amount to wishful fan casting that snowballed into “reports.”
The obvious landing spot for either would be the X-Men reboot, which has Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier attached with a script from Michael Lesslie, though Marvel hasn’t officially announced casting.
Anya Taylor-Joy has also been rumored for Magik, so the mutant rumor mill is running at full speed heading into Avengers: Doomsday this December.
Carpenter has been making the Hollywood rounds
What gives the rumor at least some legs is that Carpenter has clearly been taking studio meetings.
Richtman also recently claimed Carpenter is being eyed to play the lead in the You’ve Got Mail reboot (which itself is a remake of 1940’s The Shop Around the Corner, for those keeping score).
Back in November, it was also said Disney met with various actresses for the lead in the live-action Tangled â including Carpenter â but it didn’t work out, with the studio moving on to test other actresses for Rapunzel, with Teagan Croft getting the part.
So the pattern seems real: Carpenter wants a big movie role, and studios want a piece of the Short n’ Sweet business. Whether Marvel actually pulls the trigger â and on which character â remains to be seen.
