NBC has green lit a pilot for a drama based off of 1980’s wrestling that sees Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on as executive producer.
The as of yet unnamed show will be written by Brent Fletcher and Seamus Kevin Fahey (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena) who will also serve as co-executive producers.
The new 80s wrestling show will come out of Bruckheimer TV, with Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman on as executive producers, as well.
The WWE’s main wrestling show, RAW, is on the sister network of NBC, USA, and NBC also features WWE specials every now and then, with the last on Wrestlemania 27 featuring the match between Triple H and Undertaker.
The Rock is excited, as well, and tweeted the following:
“Kickin’ Ass! Excited to partner up w @BruckheimerJB & @NBC to create 1980’s wrestling TV drama.”
