Robocop 2013 Is Not Iron Man, Compared To Call of Duty, Concept Art (Promo Video)

A promotional video for the new Robocop movie has surfaced online.

IMC Licensing posted a licensing/sizzle reel which featured new Robocop concept art as well as interviews with the creators and actors on the new movie.

Update: The studio requested that the art images be taken down.

Among some of the highlights:

• Joel Kinnaman mentioning that there will be more than one Robocop suit, with the concept art revealing a silver design (right). “The first suit is very similar to the 1987 original Robocop,” Kinnaman said. (We’ve seen a black Robocop design and a new bulkier Robocop suit recently surfaced as well).

•Eric Newman, producer on Robocop, compares the movie to Call of Duty offering, “There’s Call of Duty style shoot-outs with an army of these things [drones]. It’s going to be pretty spectacular.” Newman also describes Robocop as a one-man-team of Navy Seals.

• Director Jose Padilha seems to take a jab at Iron Man, or even Batman, as he says, “[Robocop] is not a guy who invented a suit that he can dress in and become all-powerful. This is a guy who became a robot against his will.”

Robocop has a recently announced new release date of February 7th, 2014.

Synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, GaryOldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. RoboCop is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with EricCarraro as Executive Producer. The film is currently in pre-production and slated for a summer 2013 release.
