Rob Liefeld wants Zack Snyder’s phone number.
The Deadpool co-creator and Image Comics co-founder posted a reaction video to Instagram of himself watching a fan-made Darkseid edit, captioned: “Zack call me đ” â with #zacksnyder, #dc, #batman, and #superman attached.
“Why did we lose our appreciation for Zack Snyder? What happened? This was awesome,” Liefeld says in the video.
“When they finally released a six hour, seven hour, however long this is… I did two dedicated podcasts. I was so excited about this. So this isn’t something fresh. I’m manifesting toward you,” he said.
Liefeld kept going: “I think this extended version of his Justice League was just full of incredible, iconic, memorable, breathtaking moments. Shots, acting.”
His favorite part of the whole movie, he says, is the ending with Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, and “Ben Affleck never looked better. It was just more than spectacle. But Zack Snyder, this stuff rocks. I dig Zack. Zack, call me dude, call me.”
The post pulled over 6,000 likes in its first seven hours.
Liefeld Called It A ‘Four-Hour Masterpiece’ Two Days Before Release
Liefeld is not exaggerating about the podcasts.
On March 16, 2021 â two days before Zack Snyder’s Justice League hit HBO Max â he devoted an entire episode of his Robservations podcast to the movie, which he had already seen, calling it “the four-hour masterpiece known as Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”
“At the eighteen and a half minute mark, this is a completely different movie,” Liefeld said, referring to the 2017 theatrical version as “the phony Justice League.”
“This four hour movie is one hundred percent a different movie,” he added.
Darkseid was a highlight for him then, too, which explains the fan edit that set him off this week.
“I am the biggest Fourth World nut, and to see Darkseid just brought to spectacular life, I love him, I love the way he is depicted,” Liefeld said, calling the film “a Jack Kirby flex machine.”
On Affleck, the 2021 version of Liefeld went even further than the 2026 one: “Ben Affleck has never looked more handsome… He is the best Bruce Wayne, and honestly, in that Batman costume, my favorite Batman I’ve ever seen.”
And then this: “He looks like the Frank Miller Batman come to life.”
Liefeld also knows something about fan movements.
“The Snyder Cut is the most effective fan movement I have ever seen. I have been in the comic book business for thirty-four years, I have never seen anything like it,” he said, ranking it above the Deadpool cosplay army he credits with helping will his own movie into existence.
He also admitted people told him he was “trafficking in misinformation” for insisting the cut existed at all.
His 2021 ask sounds a lot like his 2026 caption: “Give the keys to Zack Snyder, give him the keys… let’s keep this Snyder world, SnyderVerse going.”
And for anyone complaining about the runtime: “I would have watched a fifth hour. If you’re gonna complain about four hours, then screw you, man.”
The Comments Want The SnyderVerse Back
The top comment on Liefeld’s video: “The Snyder cut was an incredible film.”
“We need the conclusion to this story. I don’t care if it’s in animation,” wrote another fan.
“We need Zack Snyder’s Justice League Part II and Part III,” added a third, next to a plain “#RESTORETHESNYDERVERSE.”
And one fan connected a familiar set of dots: “Zack Snyder wants to make Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller). Starring Henry Cavill Superman and Ben Affleck Batman. Actually sounds pretty cool.”
Per our insiders, that project is further along than a comment-section wish. The Dark Knight Returns is fully storyboarded with Jay Oliva and built for IMAX, with Snyder wanting Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, the same Affleck that Liefeld said five years ago “looks like the Frank Miller Batman come to life.”
As for Snyder, his week has been full.
He returned to Instagram posting the R-rated Rebel Moon director’s cut while The Last Photograph hunts for a distributor, fresh off a hero’s welcome on the Warner Bros. lot, with the SnyderVerse question parked on the far side of the Paramount-Warner Bros. fight.
