Rafe Spall Follows His Father Into The Wizarding World

Spall takes over the role Mark Williams played across the movies. Arthur Weasley works at the Ministry of Magic and is the father of seven, including Harry’s best friend, Ron.

The casting also keeps it in the family. Spall’s father, Timothy Spall, played Peter Pettigrew — better known as Wormtail — in the original films.

Rafe Spall’s credits include the Sky series Under Salt Marsh and the Apple TV+ comedy Trying.

Moaning Myrtle And Colin Creevey Round Out The New Additions

Hewitt-Richards plays the ghost haunting the second-floor girls’ bathroom at Hogwarts, the role Shirley Henderson made famous in the movies. Her credits include BritBox’s Code of Silence and the BBC’s Casualty.

Confirming the casting on IG, she said: “Getting this job has been a rollercoaster of emotions, I am so so so excited, very overwhelmed and grateful to be part of this magical world that I have loved for so long! I understand the significance and responsibilities of being part of this world. I hope I can use my little part to spread love for all witches and wizards. Big love, Myrtle Elizabeth Warren.”

Ambrose, seen in The Sheep Detectives, plays Colin Creevey, the Gryffindor first-year who follows Harry around Hogwarts with his camera. Hugh Mitchell played Colin in the 2002 Chamber of Secrets movie, and the character never showed up again in the film series.

All three characters come straight out of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the book Season 2 adapts.

They join the previously announced Season 2 additions: Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby, and Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle.

Dominic McLaughlin returns as Harry Potter alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione, Alastair Stout as Ron, John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Nick Frost as Hagrid.

Season 1, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, premieres this Christmas on HBO Max.
