Oh, Wait; Now Mark Hamill Says No One Signed On To New Star Wars

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:5753:]]Last week a big “scoop” was shot down by a reporter for Entertainment Weekly about Harrison Ford being officially signed on to J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII.

It was said that the deal was a long way off.

Now we get further corroboration from a member of the original cast, with Mark Hamill.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Hamill lets it be known that none of the original cast members have signed on and are only in talks, but he does want to make sure that everyone is back for when they do all come on board.

“They’re talking to us,” Hamill said when asked about the status of his involvement. “George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we’d be interested. He did say that if we didn’t want to do it, they wouldn’t cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out. … I can tell you right away that we haven’t signed any contracts. We’re in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed — on their end, not mine. They’re more busy than I am.

“And another thing I’d want to make sure of is are we going to have the whole gang back? Is Carrie and Harrison and Billy Dee and Tony Daniels, everybody that’s around from the original [returning]? I want to make sure that everybody’s on board here, rather than just one,” Hamill said.

Hamill went on to say he has no knowlege about the plot, but assumed it will be about their offspring, and likened his character to Sir Alec Guinness’ Obi-Wan, which you can read more about via the link above.

Star Wars Episode VII has a 2015 release date.
