We get a couple of updates on the future plans of Marvel Studios from president and producer Kevin Feige who mentions their Phase 3 slate of movies and the upcoming D23 Expo.

Feige is asked by The Collider when fans can expect an announcement regarding the Phase 3 2016 and 2017 movies, thought to include Doctor Strange, with the man behind Marvel’s films stating “at the earliest, a year from now.”

About a month or so following Comic-Con, Disney also holds their big corporate event in Anaheim with the D23 Expo where it’s been confirmed that Star Wars and Marvel Studios will have a presence.

Feige is asked about showing up at the D23 Expo with the producer stating they will “absolutely” be there, and that it’s Disney’s most “unique, big, and important corporate event.”

Mention is also made regarding the future of Robert Downey Jr. as well as an “Iron Man 4,” with Feige offering that Tony Stark is their Batman, their James Bond, that RDJ will be featured in The Avengers 2 and 3, and of course there will be more.

“I believe Tony Stark is as strong a character as Batman,” Feige said. “We’re about to head into our fifth or sixth Batman – however, you wanna look at it – James Bond, etc.  So, there will absolutely be future Tony Starks and future Iron Mans. Who makes those movies, and when those movies are made, who knows?”

The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014 and Ant-Man on November 6, 2015..
