Kate Mara is signed on to play Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, in the Josh Trank Fantastic Four reboot.
She is also appearing in Transcendence, and when doing press for that movie was asked about Sue Storm and the character’s relationship with Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Mara offered an interesting tidbit in the below video in that there might not be any costumes.
Here’s the text:
“Well, I don’t know very much about it, which is weird, but true,” Mara said with a laugh. “All I know is it is going to be a very different take on the film then what probably people expect. I’m not really familiar with the comic books very much. I mean I’ve read a few of them since I got the part. I think we are making a very grounded version of a superhero film. I just trust Josh Trank’s vision because I was a really big fan of his last movie Chronicle. I think the cast he got is really fantastic. I’m so excited to work with Miles Teller and Mike, Jamie Bell as well. I think he’s gotten a really interesting group together. So I don’t know really much about it we are starting in a few weeks.”
Mara was then asked about if she had tried on the Invisible Woman costume.
“I don’t know that there is a suit. People keep saying that to me, but I don’t even know that there is a suit. Maybe there is. As of now, I haven’t tried on a suit,” she said.
With production set to begin soon, it seems odd that the actors haven’t tried on any costumes as designers would need to prepare ahead of time to accommodate the number required for filming. Perhaps as Kate Mara states, the costumes will be a more grounded approach as well.
Update: Michael B. Jordan has let it be known there are costumes.
“Fantastic Four” has a June 19, 2015 August 7 , 2015 release directed by Josh Trank starring Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm and Kate Mara as Sue Storm.
