Nicolas Cage’s Stolen Superman Action Comics #1 Optioned For Film

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:835:]]Nicolas Cage is no stranger to the world of comics as the actor recently starred in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Well, Cage is no stranger to the world of Superman as well. Not only did he sign on for the defunct Superman Lives back in 1998 or so, but the actor purchased one of comicdom’s most prized possessions — Action Comics #1 from 1938.

However, in the year 2000 the issue was stolen, but was eventually found eleven years later in an abandoned storage locker and sold for a record $2.1 million.

Now, Reno 911! creators Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon have penned a movie based on the theft that has been picked up by Lionsgate, and said to be about a group of nerds on a quest to steal the comic book.

THR states that Garant and Lennon did write Cage into the movie, but it is looking doubtful that the actor will portray himself.
