New Superman Man of Steel (2013) & Krypton Rumors

New rumors for Man of Steel and Krypton are exploding on to the net.

I actually first heard about it from a recent podcast that I was a guest on, and now it’s making waves across the web.

Update: Our DC Entertainment Source tells us otherwise.

Possible spoilers.

The rumor has it that Krypton doesn’t explode in the Man of Steel, and that Zod is actually on Earth to retrieve Kal-El who is the only Kryptonian born naturally, as the other Kryptonians are all bred genetically for certain purposes (science, military etc).

Now the rumor could actually have some merit as it’s been said that Zod does want Kal-El to return to Krypton. Obviously, how could they return if Krypton exploded?

It would have to be a global menace — one that might also trigger an internal conflict about whether he belongs on Earth even as he yearns to be among his own kind. That’s what pits him against General Zod (Boardwalk Empire’s Michael Shannon), a Kryptonian tyrant who wants Clark to join him back on Krypton, which would mean abandoning his post as defender of the weaklings of Earth.

Now, if this is true and Zod wants to bring back Superman — what exactly is the problem with that? Wouldn’t Superman – you know – want to?!

But no, he wouldn’t, as Superman would essentially be a Kryptonian outlaw or a fugitive.

This basically changes the entire dynamic of Superman, and with Krypton still around actually opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

It also gives a whole new meaning to the above poster.

Man of Steel opens June 14th in IMAX 3D directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Michael Shannon as Zod.
