Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige has been making the rounds as of late with the upcoming The Avengers Blu-Ray DVD that gets released on September 25th.
Last time, Kevin Feige mentioned the future plans for Thanos in their upcoming slate of movies, which includes the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and The Avengers 2, something that Cosmic Book News revealed exclusively.
This time, Kevin Feige mentions Marvel’s future plans for the Hulk.
As we saw in The Avengers movie, the Hulk arguably stole the show. The Hulk was thought by a majority to be represented quite well in The Avengers, and sure enough, soon after, movie fans began inquiring about a new Hulk movie; however, it’s been stated on more than one occasion that there are really no plans for another.
Until now.
Speaking with MTV, Kevin Feige says that they wouldn’t be doing anything with the Green Goliath until after The Avengers 2. MTV notes that seeing how Marvel Studios is going in a more cosmic direction, would Greg Pak’s epic Hulk story from the Marvel Comics, “Planet Hulk,” be considered?
“I don’t think there’s a lot that we couldn’t do someday, as the cinematic universe continues to grow and expand and get as big as the comic book universe,” Feige told MTV. ” ‘Planet Hulk’ is a cool story. ‘World War Hulk’ is a cool story.”
“Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in ‘Avengers’?” Feige continued. “I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until ‘Avengers 2.’ So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3238:]]”Planet Hulk” featured the Incredible Hulk being shunned by the members of “Illuminati,” made up of members of both the Avengers as well as X-Men. Hulk was tricked into space where he was exiled to Planet Skaar, a barbarian-like planet ruled by the Red King. There, the Hulk married and had a son, while at the same time having both saved and destroyed the planet. Eventually the Hulk, Green Scar, makes his way back to Earth where he takes his revenge against the Illuminati in “World War Hulk,” featuring – arguably – the most powerful version of the Hulk to date.
Both great stories and two of my favorites.
In 2010, Marvel released an animated version of “Planet Hulk,” which saw the Silver Surfer replaced by Beta Ray Bill. As we all know, Fox Studios owns the movie rights to Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, could the animated “Planet Hulk” featuring Beta Ray Bill (will Bill appear in Thor 2?) have been a primer for a “Planet Hulk” movie after The Avengers 2?
The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014.
