Update: Calls to cancel Netflix are growing, with Jack Posobiec and Libs of TikTok leading the charge.
Update #2: A wine importer has suspended an employee over a cartoon of Charlie Kirk as the burning Twin Towers.
Netflix’s official UK account posted a “neck injury” joke on Thursday morning, one year to the day after Charlie Kirk was shot and killed.
“Nearly did himself a neck injury.” reads the caption, which went up at 8:00 a.m. ET alongside two images from The Gentlemen Season 2.
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was struck in the neck by a single bullet while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
What Netflix Posted
The two images come from Season 2’s wedding episode. One shows Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) in a red wide-brimmed hat among the guests.
The other shows Eddie (Theo James) at the altar next to the bride, head turned all the way around to look back at Susie.
The caption refers to Eddie whipping his head around for the look.
Season 2 of Guy Ritchie’s series premiered on Netflix on September 3, and the show has already been renewed for Season 3.

One Year To The Day
Thursday marks the first anniversary of Kirk’s assassination.
President Trump and Turning Point USA are marking the date, and the murder case against Tyler Robinson, who has pleaded not guilty, is headed toward trial.
The date has also become an online event of its own.
Accounts mocking Kirk’s death have spent weeks branding September 10 the “Kirkiversary” and treating the anniversary like a holiday on social media.
Still Up With 7 Million Views
The Netflix post immediately got picked up as a Kirk reference. One viral post sharing the screenshot declared “official netflix accounts kirkposting” and passed 2 million views.
Users have also proposed Community Notes on the post, though none have been shown publicly.
As of this writing, the post remains up on the Netflix UK account with over 7 million views. Netflix has not commented.
The streamer has been here before. Last October, Elon Musk backed a “Cancel Netflix” campaign after the creator of one of its animated shows was accused of calling Kirk a “Nazi” following his death.
Last Year’s Fallout
The assassination set off weeks of firings, cancellations, and deleted posts across entertainment, which Cosmic Book News covered at the time.
In comics, DC canceled Gretchen Felker-Martin’s Red Hood series after she celebrated Kirk’s death, with Matrix co-director Lilly Wachowski blasting DC over the firing.
Alex Ross’ X account posted and deleted a Superman image showing a bullet bouncing off the character’s neck.
In gaming, Sucker Punch fired Ghost of Yotei artist Drew Harrison over her comments, and Bethesda posted and deleted a video mocking the assassination.
Epic Games leadership faced backlash for their posts, and a SEGA Sonic comic artist celebrated Kirk’s death.
In Hollywood, Stephen King deleted false claims about Kirk and apologized, while Michael Keaton called it ironic that Kirk was shot with a gun.
Star Trek’s Tim Russ mocked the death with a Captain Kirk image, and The Rock’s daughter Ava Raine was slammed for her comments.
Elon Musk warned streamers Destiny and Hasan Piker they were “in deep trouble” over their remarks.
And ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air over his Kirk monologue. Kimmel has since returned.
